Sounds about right - only purpose of that is to discharge the CX### capacitor next to it - it's a safety thing to avoid a shock from that.

So it is holding at 000? You have a short after the bridge rectifier then.

I checked all the diodes on the top of the board, what things can short out?

I begining to think this is a dustbin piece, although the £69 price tag on ebay is annoying me

best guess on the resistor is violet green yellow gold black

750kohms based on 4 rings

Show us where you are probing please, do it from the bottom of the board ideally, are you saying you see zero, or the same reading your meter shows when probes are not touching?

Im doing it from the bottom of the board where the bridge was from the possitive and negative points

I just did it again , the meter just says 1 when im not using it i did it again and it went to 000 after about 10 seconds

That resistor would probably not cause your issue, especially if the fuse isn't blowing with bridge removed.

Show us where you are probing please, do it from the bottom of the board ideally, are you saying you see zero, or the same reading your meter shows when probes are not touching?

off im not sure on the resistor colours maybe someone else will confirm for you.

Across the PADS on the board, what do you measure (2000 ohms) across + and -. Note: Bridge out of circuit. You are testing board only.
Hold reading for 10 seconds before recording it to allow it to stabilise.

Am i doing this with the power on or off btw?

Sorry i misread you, i thought you ment read from the power cable connector, it went up a little and settled down to 001

Just out of poking around i poped out resister RX801S and tested it and the meter didnt read anything from it either way around :/

I realy did do it lol

I remember when i was like 6 or 7 and had a little black and white tv with a music tape player on in the bedroom , i went to plug it in one morning and we had plug sockets without on/off switches on them, and i pushed the plug in and it went was a bang and sparks flew out of the plug arc ing like realy scarey and the wire fell out of the plug and i kinda craped myself then too

Thinking the same thing, good job I ordered 2 now when I turn it around , I Will be edging away from the plug socket as I knock it in with a brush pole expecting a loud bang lol

got to say had to laugh at this i can imagain you doing it lol
