    Samsung LE32R88BD PS issue

So picked this up for the shear hell of it, has a smashed screen so not much use other than for parts.

Removed the rear cover, quick visual inspection and basic tests found an O.C fuse on the PS b/d, replaced 6.3A 240V fuse and disconnected the panel tabs to T-Con b/d, powered on and nothing at all.

Removed PS b/d and found a nasty little surprise, Mosfet obviously shorted to chassis blowing the fuse, scorch mark directly below Mosfet 20N60S.
On testing with it in-circuit, neg probe to Source and pos probe to Gate get 1.5 on diode test setting, then move pos probe to Drain and its reading infinite, so is this part completely knackered? Is anything else likely to have gone with it or even caused it?

    PS b/d: BN44-00155A
    Main A/V b/d: BN41-00813D-MP1.0
    T-Con b/d: V315B1-C01
    Inverter: L315B1-16A (CMO)
    Panel: V315B1-L01 Rev C3 (CMO-Chi Mie)

    Re: Samsung LE32R88BD PS issue

Having dismantled the panel I have discovered that not only is the screen smashed but also some of the lamps are broken(shattered).

Perhaps should have also mentioned that there were no voltages on the output pins on either of the connectors.

Would be nice to get this working ready for spares.

Powered up with new fuse and get around 320v across the main cap, fuse not blown this time.

Do you get 5.3V from power board in standby?

I'm never any where near Cambridge? I am in LS4 Leeds or RG26 Tadley depending on whether I'm away at uni or home.

Anyone else nearby Luton that may be interested?
P.S. Its not me selling these, I'm just too far away so someone may as well benefit.

Samsung Series 9 - BIOS issue
                      by Kjell
After installing Linux, I can no longer enter the BIOS of my Samsung Series 9 (NP900X3C) laptop. When pressing [F2] during boot I simply get a black screen. Same thing when pressing [F10] and choosing "Setup" from the "App Menu" tab. Apparently this is a relatively common issue with Samsung laptops of that generation, but unfortunately i haven't been able to resolve the issue (yet).

Things i've tried so far; reinstalled Windows 10, checked for redundant boot entries, tried to factory reset using the emergency keyhole, attempted to clear the NVRAM by physically...

Samsung UE46ES8000 Blown fuse but no other signs of short
                      by jesterace
Hi I wonder if anyone might be able to steer me in the right direction. I have this Samsung UE46ES8000 TV and it went bang during use. The main fuse on the PSU board is open. I've checked every diode/mosfet/transistor I can see and nothing appears to be short to cause the fuse to go. The DC output of the bridge rectifier is not short either. I've seen online that some of these models are known for having their PFC mosfet or other mosfets shorting and blowing the fuse but i'm not seeing that here. If anyone aware of these models having any issues to cause this? I'm reluctant to just replace the...

Samsung DM32D – Red LED blinks 5 times, won’t start (possible mainboard issue)
                      by Nairolf
                      Hello,

                      I have a Samsung DM32D display.
When I try to power it on, the red LED blinks 5 times and nothing happens—the unit won’t start.

Here’s what I have tried so far:
                      1. Disconnected the cable between the mainboard and the power supply → the backlight turns on.
                      2. Disconnected the main T-CON ribbon cable → same issue as before, the LED still blinks 5 times.
                      3. Disconnected one of the two T-CON ribbons to the panel (tested each one separately) → same issue, the LED blinks 5 times.

From these tests, I suspect the problem might be on the mainboard. Could anyone...

Samsung SyncMaster 740n Phase Control Issue
                      by vincentedel
                      Hello,
I'm having an issue with the Samsung 740n's phase control setting. When I use the automatic adjustment, it sets the value to around 54 (with a range of 0-100), and the picture looks clear and sharp. However, after some time—like after playing a game—the text starts to look blurry. When I auto-adjust again, it may increase the value to 80, and everything becomes sharp once more. Yet, after a while, whether it's a few hours or a day later, the same blurriness returns, and I have to adjust it again.

I'm using the Samsung 740n monitor drivers instead of the default plug-and-play...
