Samsung LN32B360C5D power/inverter board. Wrong diode?

Got this one the other day and quickly determined that diode ZM801 was bad. I ordered a replacement but think I ordered the wrong one. I think there must have been no picture of it on Mousers site or I would have noticed the difference.

    Original - 1N4740AS

    New - 1N4740A

As you can see from the pic, they look very different. Both are senses though. Somebody please let me know if the new one will work. Top one is new.

Just a different package - if that is the correct part # diode it should work fine.

Thank you! I wasn't sure if there was some difference. Didn't want to fry anything.

Just make sure to get it the right way and it should be fine.

The end with the black line would be same as grey line on old one right? My board has a black dot to indicate polarity.

Fixed it. Replaced 2 caps that were suspect and the diode. Funny, was trying to turn it on with the wrong remote for about 3 minutes. Tried the side power button and it came right on. Then I tried the remote again and realized it was for the Dynex I was working earlier. Lol

Thanks for posting the result. What is the P/N of this board, BNXX-XXXXX? You are getting good at the repair! What leads you to find and suspect that Diode?

"What is the P/N of this board, BNXX-XXXXX?" BN44-00289B

"You are getting good at the repair!"
Thanks! I'm getting good because you and Tom and a few others have taken the time to help me. I have to give credit to this forum. I do learn fast and have always tinkered with electronics but nothing this complex. My prior experience consisted mainly of swapping boards from a donor TV. Those were the days of the CRT.

"What leads you to find and suspect that Diode?" There is a thread here somewhere (I'll find it and edit this). The OP had found 3 bad diodes and fixed his TV. I took every diode out of the board and stuck each in a piece of paper which I had marked with each diodes corresponding number on the board. Then I tested each in forward and reverse polarity. That was the only one that gave me low resistance readings in forward and reverse. The 2 had caps each had a black dot on top. Wasn't sure if someone had marked them or they had leaked so I just replaced them.

Edit: Here is the thread that lead me to suspect the diode

I see, those are the 3 Zeners that have common failure, two for the VCC, 1 for the output voltage feedback control circuit (which is the one that failed on you).
BTW, there is nothing better than hands on learning.

It was ZM801. I edited my last post to include a link to the thread that lead me to suspect the diode. I didn't even need the data sheet for this one. Good to have it here for the next time or for anyone who comes along with problems with this TV.
