Screen is Red and Black. You can see the source playing behind the red and black. Sound works. Picture attached.

Re: LG Plasma 50PK540-UE
Looks like a Y-sustain failure or Y-buffer failure to me. I'd try checking Vsc and -Vy voltages on Y-sus to see if they're good. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: LG Plasma 50PK540-UE
You need a digital voltmeter.
Set the meter on volts DC, if manually ranging 600 or 1000V DC.
Measure the voltages and note them down.
On the back of the plasma display panel, inside the unit, is a sticker marked LG Electronics, country of origin (China, Korea, Mexico, Hungary) and "PDP50R1" for this model. You want to look at the voltages on this sticker. Typical order is N/A / -Vy / Vsc / N/A / Vzb.
They should match within approx 2V.Last edited by tom66; 09-18-2013, 10:45 AM.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

OK, do you see Vzb on Z-sus? Test that, too. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

You should measure across the + and - not go to the chassis. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: LG Plasma 50PK540-UE
If those match the sticker, they look fine.
If you turn the Vset_up and Vset_dn controls, do you see any improvement in the image? Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: LG Plasma 50PK540-UE
It is very hard to tell. I think it may be a Y-buffer or Y-sustain problem but I do not know. The only way to be sure is test the Y-sustain output using an oscilloscope. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

by npielawskiI will just preface all this by saying that I have a fairly technical background but have never attempted SMD electronics diagnostics and repair before, I really like the idea and want to learn.
I have a MacBook Pro late 2016 that died maybe four years ago. Over the course of 30 seconds, it got slower and stuttered, until it froze for a second and died. No click from the trackpad anymore, nothing. I started getting interested in electronics repair and decided to give it a shot, so I opened it, removed the battery (one cell was puffy), took out the motherboard and experimented with...10-15-2025, 01:53 AM -
by puccovelliHi all, I hope this is the right place to post.
I'm having a problem with a Dell 9310 which is posting 2 orange, 4 white lights on startup (hangs on Dell BIOS logo). The service manual says its a RAM failure.
I've taken the motherboard out and noticed that one of what looks like an SMA 0805 resistor has blown (see photo). The board is an LA-J144P Rev 2.0(A01).
1] Could someone confirm what the component that has blow actually is (and where I could get another from).
2] Whether this component is likely to cause the RAM failure issue, and if replacing... -

by howardc64All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
- TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
- Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

by ctroxtellI've got a control display for a Carrier chiller that I'm trying to understand what the common failure with these boards are. This is the board in question https://www.supplyhouse.com/Carrier-...arquee-Display all of them seem to develop a failure with the up and down arrow buttons on the right side of the display, the esc and enter keys I've never seen fail. Once these boards are plugged in they run 24/7, you used to have to press extremely hard with the end of the blunt screwdriver and you could still get the arrows to work but now it has completely stopped working. The button...
