blurred, sluggish video, Dynex 55", any suggestions?

    Dynex DX-55L150A11 55" LDC

neighbor threw this tv out. started malfunctioning shortly after warranty ran out.

the screen appears to have even color, but the image is very blurred and the motion/movement is very very sluggish, for instance the "no image" text that rotates around the screen is barely discernible and blurry as it moves around the screen.
I hooked up multiple inputs - no change
squeezed the edges of the screen around the entire perimeter - no change
I read the sticky troubleshooting guide and I am thinking its the T-con or LCD controller, is that the same part?
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I will work on posting pics
    thanks, Dan

It could also be a bad panel. Unfotunately, I have no idea how you can figure it out without spending money. Maybe an oscilloscope would help.

it seems to be completely video related, as if the signal is in a time warp.
I will take her apart this weekend and inspect ribbons, caps, etc

is a T-Con and LCD controller the same component?

Looks almost certainly like a tab bond issue to me. You can tear down the panel to expose the bonds and apply pressure to them to see if the image clears up. Search on here for 'tab bond repair' for more info. Basically the panel is damaged and its more of a rig job than a repair if you can get it working.

I suppose it could be the Tcon but seriously doubt it.

Might open it up and post pictures of the back so we can see if the bonds are on the top or bottom of the screen. This is going to be a very cheaply made set.

I should add that upon initial start up, the screen graphics are clear and then about 20 seconds later starts to blur

Could still be tab bonds, but i'm betting more on some processor overheating... Does it take longer to blur if you turn down the backlight brightness?

one more symptom, all remote inputs are very very sluggish, I have disassembled the unit and touched all of the bond pads with no change. I have included some more pictures as well. Any more inputs would be greatly appreciated

I'll checkout turning down the backlight brightness, and I will try to pick up some cooling spray from radioshack to hit different surface mount components

bonds are all on the top, I touch them in as many ways as I can and don't get any changes

Probably a mainboard issue then. Begin by testing all power supply rails and then all voltage regulators on the main board. If you don't know how to test a voltage regulator, search the forum for "testing voltage regulator" and you will find there is a topic on that.

*EDIT* Check the TCON board before the mainboard, it's more likely to produce that kind of issue if one of the panel drive voltages is missing. There are 3 or 4 of them, one ~15v, one ~20-30v, one 5v and a negative one around -6v or something.

I've seen tab bonds before that haven't responded to pressure; you had to bend it very, very slightly. Possibly a die bond - chip issue rather than an issue of bond - circuit board. Pressure under the tab seems to help, but I'd be a lot less confident about reliability.
