That looks ok, but to make it easier, you might as well connect that connector at the power board end, disconnect it at main board and put the resistors in the exposed holes where PSON/VSON are (follow the wires...)

You should leave that 6 pin connector connected to control board. The 5V source comes from the main board connector; otherwise, it looks OK.

Sorry Tom, but the upper connector doesn't have a VS ON - have a look

              Re: Samsung 42" Plasma PN42C450B1D

I assume you're trying to power the panel with the inbuilt test patterns with the mainboard isolated.

              If not, then disregard.

This is for the the B450 but it'll be the same
              Logic Board Forced Operation
              • Step 1- With the Main PCB removed, short pins 1 & 5* on the 24P
ribbon cable to the SMPS from the main PCB to turn the panel on.
This will turn on the secondary voltages of the SMPS. Shorting the
POWER ON connection to ground is the same as the power on from
              the power switch.
              • Step 2 - Carefully short pins 3 & 4 of the quad connector on the
Logic PCB together. When the panel is powered on, the PDP will
automatically “play” the internal test patterns stored on the Logic
board that would normally be accessed only through the service
menu. This will force the logic board into a loop where the internal
test patterns will be displayed in sequence.
              • Step 3 - After the proper pins are shorted, apply power to the AC
input. The TV will power up by itself and if all is well with the logic,
X, Y buffers and address boards, the panel will “play” the test pattern
loop. If everything looks normal the possible problem is the main
board which is the only thing left not in the circuit.
*ALWAYS check the service manual for the correct PS_ON and GND

                Tom asked me this earlier:

You want to unplug the main board power connector completely; this is the connector which hooks the main board to the power supply.
Then connect one resistor between PS ON and GND, and one between VS ON and 5V standby. The power supply should turn on, indicated by one or two clicks. If it does, unplug it. Then apply the 4-3 jumper and see whether you get test patterns on the screen.

The lower plug had the missing VSON, that's why I'm confused

Hang on, I've jumped in boots and all.

I just read the entire thread. I thought you were doing the forced operation but looks like you've done that and still have intermittent issues.

I'll see if I've got any docs on the C.

Sorry, just trying to help. Obviously Tom's trying eliminate something. probably a few hours away before being online in the UK.

I think this doc is what Tom has. Yeah so for all power to be on, PSON needs a low (grounded) VSON needs 3.3V(high) so that's why he's saying jump stdby 5V with a resistor to VSON to get the VS to turn on normally comes from the logic ctrl.

Yes , made an ass of my self.

Actually, reading this again slowly, it does sound like you're going to do the forced operation test but VSON is on the connector to the logic ctrl. So if he's getting you to confirm clicks and the jumper 4-3 then CN802 will need to be connected to the logic ctrl.

The procedure is at the top left , page 3. Essentially the same as what as I copied earlier.

You know you can always just do the test as per the guide and see if it works in which case proves everything except the main board.

With the resistor in, it clicks several times (cycles); once I remove them and restore it won't power up

That looks OK... so odd that's not working. Presuming PS ON etc is correct but have no reason to doubt it isn't... So do you have a working digital multimeter to check some voltages?
