    HP PL4260N plasma question.

I don't usually work on plasma's but a customer had an issue with this one and after he read the horrible reports on HP's support site he purchased a new LED set and donated this one to the shop.
Plug it in, blue light on main board lights up and then there are 2 clicks from what I'm assuming is the PSU and then a second blue led on mainboard lights up. After about 10 seconds I hear a third click from PSU and the 2nd blue light goes off.

I'm not turning on power or anything. The power button is red when plugged in, turnes purple after the two clicks and when last click comes, it goes red again. Button unresponsive at all times.

Anyone have a handle on this set? I don't know where to start. Pulled back access panel but it' not to the PSU, I can see PSU's caps without removing back cover, none swollen. Maybe a fuse? I'm waiting for a response before stripping this thing down.

    Thanks for looking.

    Re: HP PL4260N plasma question.

I found the same tv abondoned outside of a mobile home my company was going to demo. Brought it home, plugged it in, same symptoms as yours. Opened it up to find fuse blown in ysus board. After doing a bit of research, I found its common for that board to have a short on one if the components ( cant remember which one). Coppell TV Repair offers a service to fix the problem. I sent them my board, got it back quickly, installed to find the TV working! I did have sparkles after board service that @ the time I didn't know how to fix. Ran the TV for awhile like that before finding this forum... I'm not an expert, though y & z sustain boards are common failure parts on this model...

If you discover that you have sound and no picture, it's most likely an IPM failure (the large IC under the large heat sink on the Y-Sus and Z-Sus). It's recommended that the IPMs on both the Y-Sus and Z-Sus be replaced at the same time. You may have other bad components on the board, but an IPM and fuse replacement may be enough to get it working properly.

        Samsung PN58A550S1FXZA 58" plasma - blue rectangle
        by sweeber
I have a ~13 year old 58" Samsung plasma, model PN58A550S1FXZA, that recently started showing a bluish rectangle in the upper right hand corner of the screen. It's about 3" wide and extends from the top of the screen halfway down. See the picture below.

        https://www.dropbox.com/s/rwuuqq8ift...46.01.jpg?dl=0

The blue rectangle appears on all inputs. The TV otherwise seems to work just fine. Is this a panel issue or something fixable?

        Thanks!...

Sceptre X505BV, blue LED, no display
        by tom_h
        Hello all,

I have a Sceptre X505BV-FMDR8HJ1PE8 tv that had been gradually over time taking longer
and longer to come on, now it will no longer display any image. Original symptoms
are the red standby LED would turn to blue immediately when pressing the power on
button, but there would be a delay for the "SCEPTRE" image to appear on the screen
and backlight to come on. The delay kept getting longer, then it would go from blue
LED back to red. Then when I pressed the power on button again it would bring the
        display up and work fine....

Panasonic Plasma TH-50px600u blue haze (sparklies?)
        by dstanic
I received this TV recently and very impressed with the picture quality. This set has no burn in however once the set is on for a little while it shows a blue haze when on a white or bright picture. The blue goes away when the picture goes darker or less white there will be less blue sparklies. When the TV is just turned on (cool) the picture is fine. Does it on either HDMI and i have a PC and a Chromecast and it will do it on both. On a bright picture with blue haze showing the tv also buzzes louder than normal through the speakers, unless i disable the speakers then no buzzing.

blue LEDs @ ~10k hours on LG 49UJ6500-UB and 75UM8070PUA
        by howardc64
Recently fixed a couple of LGs with blue backlight (yellow phosphor worn) by replacing LED backlight

2017 49UJ6500 with 10.5k hours (all LEDs turned blue)
2019 75UM8070PUA with 12k hours (>75% of LEDs turned blue)

So the 2019 was averaging 8hr/+day and 2017 probably 5hr+/day

Just some stats for future repairs.

Hitachi 55HDS69 55" Plasma TV - No Picture But Sound
        by KYBOSH
Picked up a bahemoth plasma TV not too long ago and just now getting around to looking at it.
No picture but you hear the TV static (white noise) playing loud and clear.
The back was already taken off (and no screws were provided) as the previous owner had already taken a look.
But it seems they didn't get too far and just left it.

When I first took a look I was amazed at how pristine the inside looked.
Its as if the TV had been in a time capsule.
Caps looked like they were just pulled off the self.
Copper coils had no sign of corrosion on...
