I built one out of a laptop power supply. 19.5v across each led strip. It's dirty but gets the job done.

When you get the tester you will have to remove the White and Black LED connectors and then probe the Anode pin and Cathode pin of each LED string with the LED tester.

OK thanks. I've just googled and found it too.
see attached pic, are these the 12 measurement points?
do i measure with respect to chasis GND?
do u know what is the ideal resistance(during OFF),
or what are the correct voltage(during ON)...?

    thanks..

Just go to EBAY and type in 'LED BACKLIGHTS TESTER' in the search box.

If I were you I would get one of those LED backlights tester, it is worth having one just to give you some idea if some of the LED strings have open circuit or not.
Youe LCD panel for your TV version looks to be made by LG, not AUOP as used in other version of the same model.
There is sticker on the LCD panel model so you can look up and see what kind of LED strips are used in your panel.

So far it looks like some of the LED strings have have high resistance which are probably due to bad LEDs.

Are these Voltages measured with ref. to chassis GND?
You have 12 LED strings and 12 LED controllers circuits.
    Hi,
Yes, i measured it with ref. Chassis.
do u know are the measurements voltages correct?

u mentioned about the 12 LED Strings/Controller circuits,
are they the likely root-cause for the failure...?

You have 12 LED strings and 12 LED controllers circuits.
If the readings are done with ref. to chassis GND, then it looks like you have some bad LED strings.

BTW, the readings are missing on this one: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...9&d=1519575672

There are 24 pins but you only show STBY condition of only 12 pins and only 12 pins of the ON condition.

    Hi,
I'm new & this is my first post..
After reading a while in a few related threads, I hope to learn some real good knowledge from you guys.

I've got a LG 42LE4500-TA, been using for more than 5years.
Weeks ago it just suddenly "die off", become no display.
(i think i heard a small "pop" sound when it went Black screen)

When i try to Turn it ON, the LG Logo appears,
as usual, follow by the red-LED running fine,
but, when it next turn into the White LED indicator, the screen just black-out.

I'm trying to seek some advice if it is worthwhile to try repairing it.

I'm trying to attach a video(in zip-file). Hope it can be viewed easily.

thanks alot for any kind advice!

This is modification. The TV was saved and at 12Volts i have at 104 LED's onli 388mA consumption. The drivers arecold as iceand no problem's at all.
The TV is working very well. Also the LEDS are protected . Are staying cool because of current limitaition on jonction

I have replaced the LED driver with some TL4115 Constant Current Source at 12Volts.
Modified the led strips. 4 LED's series with other series in parallel. The results ?

Re: LG 42LE4500 lines on screen

I have Lg 42Le4500 for about 4yrs and in recent weeks it started to show some lines on the left side of the screen, in start they were appearing intermittently on one side of the screen but now they are of a constant feature on the left of the screen. Saw few youtube post but of no help.

Can someone advise what is the issue and it it could be fixed. can post photos if that would help.

    Many thanks
    Jiimy
