    Re: Panasonic TH-50PZ80U 7 Blinks

    I got two PZ80 - TH-42PZ80B and TH-46PZ80B.

IMO, the 46" is the best of the 42"~50" range because it has the 50" PSU and so can draw up to 630W, but is a little smaller so you get the brightest screen light. The 42" PSU can only draw 550W max so its max brightness is cut back quite a bit.

They are fantastic tellies when working.

Only fault I have had on these are cold solder on PSU & loose LVDS. My friend has done two others with 10 blinks and that's just a single cap on the MC201/MC301 packs.

Wow there is tons of repair services for those PS boards on ebay.. Is it just an SMD cap that goes bad or that IC?

Just that cap most of the time, in rare cases the IC too, but mostly that cap only.

Norcal715 on YouTube recommends replacing the ICs, also. If I remember correctly, he said that he's had at least one callback. The ICs are fairly cheap. I got mine from a reliable local supplier for $7.50 each.

I've done three of these TVs, one of which I sold, and I just replaced the caps on two of them; one of the two with cap replacements has been running fine for over two years. I decided to replace the ICs on the third one I just did for a little more peace of mind in case I wanted to sell it.

There's a 1 mfd cap near the top of the MC201 and MC301 modules:

                Re: Panasonic TH-50PZ80U 7 Blinks

I thought I'd share this tidbit of info..

I sold my A board to someone who had an otherwise working TV but no HDMI inputs would work, they just showed blank screen and no audio.

My board gave him same results.

I was upset about it because my initial problem just indicated a bad buffer board or due to a cracked screen, but I wasn't sure that I tested the HDMI ports for at least sound.

I decided to help and found the service manual, and realized that there was an HDMI3 on the front panel assembly, the GH board.

I realized this could be the common denominator and had him disconnect that connector (A11) from the main board.

This worked and HDMI1 and 2 started working. Obviously an issue with GH board.

Interestingly, whether it was some sort of surge or not, he never had used HDMI3 port, just HDMI1. And after we got this working he found out his receiver HDMI ports were fried too.

Either way good learning experience and saved him some $$..

Interesting. Yeah, I'd forgotten about the third HDMI port at one point myself. When I sold one of these, I only put "two HDMIs" in my ad

So im trying to Isolate my SD/SU boards, but everything says to run a jumper between L801 and VF_Ground; However, I do not have a L801 on my SC board. My SC board is a TNPA4657 which does not have the L801 where all these diagrams for it show, so how/where would i connect this jumper to test these boards?

I have 7 Blinks BTW, and when i Disconnect SC20 and SC2 the TV stays on and no blinks, But with the SC board plugged in i get the 7 blink issue. I just ordered an SC board replacement, but i feel that the one i recieved is bad as well, because the problem is not solved. Any help would be much appreciated!!!

This is a picture of a board exactly like mine, except my board doesnt have a power coil in L416 but this one does, which is odd but besides the point. See how the layout is different than all the manuals show?

Jan 2009 is a late model year for a PZ80 (2008.) I think it is rev A board. I am not sure where the test point is without having a look at schematics, which I don't think I have.

I just got a free service manual with all the diagrams and schematics in there. I dont know what makes the test point, but maybe you can get the same Manual and figure out which one is the test point?

L801 is located in the middle of the board in between the 2 large heatsinks nearest the buffer connectors.

I thought i had looked everywhere on it. I cant believe i missed that. Im about to do the board isolation, and make sure that this SC board is bad. I think the replacement may have been just the wrong board with the same part number. That extra power coil at L416 must be a different revision of TNPA4657 or something, correct?

Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
                                            • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
                                            • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

                                            Panasonic plasma TX-P42ST50 - 6 blinks

                                            Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults...

Panasonic Plasma TH-50PZ85U No screen No blinks on red power light
                                            by Alicat
                                            Hello,

Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.

                                            Model number is TH-50PZ85U

Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.

Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.

I also hear a few clicks.

I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...

                                            Hello all,
As the title states, I followed the troubleshooting guide located here: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/23...page=53#manual, which concluded the 'A' board needs to be replaced. Looking around the net and eBay, I see that there are repair services for the board (TNPH1043UE? Not sure if it is a 'UE' as the suffix grid does not appear marked). What additional troubleshooting can be performed to ensure 1) this board is the problem and 2) since there are repair services, what are they fixing on the board?) I expected 3.3V not to be available anywhere...
