samsung pn51d450 odd problem

Love the input on this forum, great work.

Need help, my samsung plasma picture went out. It has the dim/pixelated screen that is typical on a failed x-main board, but in addition it has a odd warped black area at the bottom of the screen. I replaced the x-main and the symptoms remain unchanged. I have thoroughly inspected the screen itself for damage and don't see any.
Anyone ever seen anything like this?

I saw this a few months ago with exactly the same failure, very odd.

I'm pretty sure the panel has a small crack in it and has leaked gas in that area. Maybe the crack damaged the X-main too. Not really repairable. And the crack can be behind the frame, on the edge of the internal glass, it may not necessarily be visible.

Thats what I was thinking but I did remove the frame and inspect the edge of the glass, no signs of damage whatsoever.

Perhaps the glass layers are separated and the gas has leaked from that area. I can't see any of the boards in the set causing this.
