    Hello

My name is Steve, I have been searching for hours about a TV issue I have and this site and I keep gettng links that point me to this site. I see a lot of great info on here and great responses. I was wondering if I can get some guidance from this forum.

I have a z50px2d that the left side of the image has gone black. About 10 or 12 inches of it. The rest of the image is fine and I have read a lot about the y-sus and the z-sus. None of the symptoms seem to be a complete chunk of screen being black. One place did mention a logic controller might be the issue. Before I waste money and more time can I get some help?

Note: I have the back off and the everything looks good no burn marks and such.

    Any help would be appreciate

    Steve m.

    Re: Hello

This is characteristic of the the left side X buffer board failing. But you will need to put images of the fault for us to be better able to help you.

Here are some pics. The weird part is as I was taking the pic the portion of the image that was normally black went to blue fuzz. for a few sec then back to black I dont have a pic of it being black. I didnt want to move it to much with it on an dthe back off.

Very strange, almost like the left half of the screen is not properly connected. Can we get a picture of the chassis layout?

To help trouble shoot I unpluged the top two ribbions on the z-sus board and there was no change in the picture the third I lost the whole picture. New to this so not sure what if any thing that proves.

            Re: Hello

It proves nothing for now, your problem is along the horizontal axis of the panel not the vertical axis BUT it is essential to always change these connectors with power off, never connect them with power on!

I figured it wasnt a good move but wanted to see what would happen to the image. Note: I didnt put them back on with the TV on. not that it helps my case much. lol

So we need a picture of the whole chassis before I can tell you where to look because I have not got this TV in front of me and I have not worked on it yet.

                      - If you hit the on screen menu, does it show up on the left side of the screen... - And have you tried other inputs... HDMI, other scart, DVI etc.

It's actually showing static on the left (not no picture), so I'm wondering is something going wrong with the signal from the main board.

Sorry, used to 42" LG PDP.

The board I'm talking about is the one with the grey cable coming out of this top board.

                            https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...3&d=1368566263

It's slightly obscured by the main board assembly, you will need to remove the main board assy.

Yep, I can see from the other pictures where the left side of the pic is completely black.. I would check for shorts on the X buffer left side.. I've googled to see the buffer boards on that and it seems that the X buffers are split in to three boards...

You should have a board like this at the bottom left of your TV ... Cant see it from your photos, I think it's hidden. But it looks like this..

I used the photo from this site:
                                  http://www.interliquidparts.com/prod...uct_order=DESC

Does it look like roughly 1/3 of the screen is gone?

Yes it is 1/3 of the screen and in posting #9 pic 5 those are the boards you mentioned. there is two buffer boards and the y-sus board. it is an upper and lower y-buffer. would you think that its just one of the buffer boards?

Nutty, my plasma book by Damon Morrow goes to serious lengths to indoctrinate the list of failures and what board causes them... His point is basically that all the X buffer address the X electrodes directly above them, and the Y scan buffers address the Y electrodes directly across from them. So for your TV, which has three X buffers (most of the examples in the book have two only, but this is my interpretation for a three X buffer scenario), here is what you would expect for particular failures..

It's obviously not an absolute certainty, but my two cents says that you should start with the left X buffer and test it for shorts... (When the TV is OFF)

left x buffer failure pic is exactly what I have. now when I look from the back of the TV even though it says left x buffer it will be the one on the right correct. sorry if that a stupid question.
