Samsung PN58A650T1F Plasma
Troubleshooting this set for a friend.
With no sources connected, TV powers up, displays the black screen with the "HDMI 4 - No Connection" boxes. Set will display this screen indefinately without issue.
Plug in an input source - in this case, all we had was an HDMI device.
It seems the warmer the set gets, the more quickly it has the problem.
When a device is plugged in, (HDMI4, the set was already selected to that input) a couple seconds pass and the TV detects a signal on the input, I hear a few clicks, and the set starts playing the source.
After a couple more seconds, the image turns to a giant blur, displays the blur for about 5 seconds, then the set turns off and back on. Issue repeats.
I've taken the back off of the set, and with the set on, (going through it's video display/then blur/then off) pressed and flexed on the PSU board, the TCON, and the logic board. No difference at all.
I then removed the logic board, found what appeared to be a small amount of residue from soda on the solder side. Cleaned all that, reinstalled, issue remains.
It does appear that the issue has something to do with heat, however, I don't think it's a cold joint. Since it's affecting the whole panel, I don't think it's the Zsus or Ysus, IMO it should be the PSU, the TCON, or the logic. Is there a way to test each?
