    Samsung Mainboard Repair?

I am wondering if it is possible to repair the mainboard of a Samsung LED TV.

    First a little backstory:

My TV, a Samsung UN32D5500RFXZA Ver H306 is 32" LED TV that I bought in a non-working condition. The TV when plugged into the wall, its front LED blinked 6 times and then did nothing. Since I read that many LED TVs that just up and fail can be repaired by replacing the capacitors, so this was the first device I decided to try and repair by capacitor replacement. Most of the capacitors on the board were Samyoung capacitors, which I read on this forum, are junk. So, I replaced all of them with either Nichicon or Panasonic capacitors of similar or better specifications. Same exact result, so I tried replacing every other component I was able to identify, so I replaced most of the film capacitors, a 4 pin bridge rectifier, a few axial rectifier diodes, and all of the resistors, and still nothing. So since I couldn't track down replacement transformers and inverters, I decided that maybe I should look elsewhere in the TV, I thought, maybe it might be the mainboard. So, I found a resource which showed how to hardware reset the mainboard, and I gave that a try with the same exact result. Finally I replaced the mainboard, and it fired right up. Too bad I spent the money on new capacitors (amongst other components), but I guess it is good thing to have the junk caps off the board.

So, now that I have a fully working TV, I would like to find a way to repair the old mainboard so that I have a spare in case whatever killed the old one happens to the new one. If it is helpful, the part number is BN96-21111A, and I have included pictures of the old one. I have absolutely no idea where to begin in troubleshooting this board. The only diagnostic hardware that I own is a Fluke 189 multimeter, I don't have an oscilloscope, but it is on my to buy list, right after my new soldering iron and an ESR meter. Any help, as always, is deeply appreciated.

    Yours,
    Justin

    Re: Samsung Mainboard Repair?

A common issue with these boards is a firmware problem. This can be re-flashed using the service port, if this TV has one. But you will need a copy of the firmware, and likely also some hardware from Samsung to do the reprogramming.
Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!
For service manual, schematic, boardview (board view), datasheet, cad - use our search.

So, in other words, it is doubtful that I would be able to repair it as I have neither. That is unfortunate. But thanks for taking the time to reply, I appreciate it.
