i have seen a thread where they were talking about mura effect,,i'm not sure if this is what this tv has or not ,,but i will post a few pictures. this set had a warranty plan and the tv tec's replaced random parts,,after 3 or 4 attemps they decided to to pay the owner a partial amount for the tv. the tv has sound . the black streak is over 3/4 of the screen ,,,could this be x main ? or y main issue ??

Can hardly see anything in the picture... Put yourself in my position: Look at the picture you took... Now without looking at the TV [maybe you're a visiting Martian and have never seen this TV] describe the symptoms to me.

Or post a better picture.

the power works as it should without playing a movie the screen looks black/dark grey with a movie in you can see maybe a 1/4 of whatever is playing the rest of the screen is black were it looks like its was creaping across the screen. the origional owner said it started slowly and after time it got worse .

Picture is underdiffused: It's the X-main.

I have seen it before and it is the X-main (Z-sustain if it uses an LG panel.)

yea it is a lg panel and the reading were va 59.6 (60 on specks ) vs 184.5 (186 specks ) that was on powersupply and x main 23 va and 184.5 vs i wonder if this can be tracked down,, i will have to see if i can do that .

well looks like i got a reason to get a hot air station,,,,, just a iron ant gona get that part off,,,but this looks like its only soildered on the bottom ,, maybe its on both sides just dont look like it .

It is soldered on both sides.

You will need both a powerful, temperature regulated soldering iron and ideally a hot air gun to get it off.

Jolly gee I get to do a 50" LG with a similar issue today.
