Strange Black Rectangle in Toshiba 42H83

Hi, I ve a strange problem with my Toshiba 42H83 projection TV

When I want to play a DVD, a black box appears in the middle of the screen. If I enter Menu, the black box dissapear and when a exit from menu the black box appers again.

If I change to TV mode, generally no problem, but eventually, when I see TV the black box appears... then I change the channel and the box desappears..

Really really strange, any idea?

Your set may not like the power management function, make sure it's off.
You also have a screen whiper function called orbitter, also set all of those advanced features off.
Lastly the OSD may be corrupted, don't be afraid of any factory default resets, you may have to readjust her but you may also eliminate the strange box.
