    Plasma TVs are easy to repair. I've had far more success than with LCD TVs, but I don't come across so many plasmas as they are rarer.

        OK not trying to be saying bad things on the forum...but in electronics industry it is common to easily learn how to read resistor color band codes. All such resistors have bands of color on them. The 1st color band closest to an end of the resistor stands for a number from 0 to 9. The 2nd color band is also representing a number from 0 to 9. The 3rd color band from the end represents a multiplier -actually the number of zeros to add to the 1st two numbers. Therefore the 3 color bands tell you the value of the resistor in ohms. Most of the time there is also a 4th color band...often silver or gold and it represents the accuracy of the resistor...often 10% or 20% tolerance, etc. The easiest way to remember what each of the 3 colors represent is to remember a numonic sentence: "Bad Boys Rape Our Young Girls But Violet Gives Willingly. The color code is then very easy to remember by assigning numbers to the 1st letter of each word as follows:
        Bad =Black=0
        Boys=Brown=1
        Rape=Red=2
        Our=Orange=3
        Young=Yellow=4
        Girls=Green=5
        But=Blue=6
        Violet=Violet=7
        Gives=Gray=8
        Willingly=White=9
        Therefore a resistor with color codes nearest one end that are:
        Red Violet Brown is a resistor that is 270 ohms.
        Most of you probably already know this easy method of remembering the color meaning of resistors.
        This does little good though of course if the resistor is burned to a crisp and you do not have a schematic with resistor values listed. I had this occur with a $5000 plasma cutter I picked up for $40 and the manufacturer told me their schematic was proprietary and they could not give it to me...but..the next day an engineer at the factory e-mailed me with the resistor value and I was happy and fixed the cutter.
