    Samsung PN50B450B1D - Infamous Clicking

Well the set will remain on if the Y-Main is disconnected but so is everything else once that is disconnected.

There was a short on the X-Main (in picture) but that caused no change and I di replace the CTRL board (as I heard that was a common prob to clicking) but still to no avail.

I suppose for the internal test pattern, I would have to disconnect the LVDS and connector from power supply to main and jump the power supply?

There are lots of problems with the X-Main and Y-Main boards of this set failing, you should replace the Y-Main. It is relatively inexpensive here (just £20 on eBay for me.)

Alright I'll get a Y-main and see what happens.

Well I got it to finally to cut on, thanks to your suggestion, but the screen is partially there.

It looks like there was a burn-in but only the central part of the panel seems to be active though the whole panel seems to be primed.

I was running the test patterns and this is what it showed.

Incorrect Vs, Ve, Vscan, Vset or Yrr/Yfr. If that helps narrow it down!

I'm no expert, but it looks like mal-discharge. Are the voltages from the PSU correct? Did you adjust them at all, or anything on the new Y board?

Well all are within panel spec and I even tried the SM generic voltages but all did nothing.
The fr pot did adjust the contrast of the partial image but have no idea what that voltage is supposed to be.
I played around with them but could not get anything more than I already have.
Do you think the buffers failed partially?
It is odd to me that only that part of the screen will respond to any adjustments and input.

It looks like VE is missing on X-main. Lack of proper panel initialisation.

So I suppose I will get another X-Main.

Yes, also check VE input to X-main, generated on Y-main I believe.

The Ve input from Y is 104.4v.
At the test point it is 89.0v.

That's a fair drop. What is panel rating for Ve?

It is 89. I have adjusted it already and it was about 1 or 2 volts off upon initial installation.

Well new x-main did not change anything.
It almost looks like there is a pic but a black mask.

Also, it seems the more ffc's i unplug from the buffer board, the better I can see the no signal box.

I have a scope if you can tell me how to use it (well I have a general knowledge of using one) but perhaps what to look for.

Yep, I dont have a cable right now but will try tonight.
But, it looks as before being that the panel looks partially primed (as the Samsung screen saver will only show in the "primed blob" as it bounces around)

But ya, I can see where the "no signal" box would be but just leaving the middle 2 buffers connected the box comes up not perfect but ya.....you'll see lol

Both pics are with only the middle buffer ICs connected.

Second pic is showing how black is appearing.

Sorry, pictures are hard to get as TV is facing a wall.

Replaced Y-main again and it is currently working.
I suppose something failed on it which was feeding the X-main incorrectly.
Unfortunately, I don't have anytime to figure out what failed.

I dont know if anyone can shed some light... I have the same tv with the famous clicking and bought a new power board. The problem was still there but now I have a blinking green from the logic board. When disconnecting the Y-board then plugging back in no change. disconnecting the main board with inputs then plugging back in tv is completely dead. When disconnecting the X-Main then plugging in the tv comes to life- volume and display-'no signal' and i can plug in my pc via HDMI no problem. I have not gone any further as I dont know what it is and what it does. Do I need to replace it?
                                        Thanks,
                                        TJ
