Toshiba Plasma 50HP16 clicks on and off no picture or sound

    Hey folks,

I have searched to find what may be wrong to no avail-

When I plug the tv in and press the power button, the power LED shows green for a second, then turns off- then this repeats every 10 seconds or so. There are four LED's on the board and two of them light up and turn off at the same time as the power LED in this order from top to bottom:
    ON
    Off
    Off
    ON

I know my way around a soldering iron, but am looking for some direction-

    Thanks!

    Dave

Those 4 LEDs are probably on a small board called the controller board and are most likely irrelevant. Just having the main plugged into the power supply, does it stay on?

Include nice clear pictures using the manage attachments feature.

Do you mean that I should unplug all the connectors from the power supply other than the main power cables? If yes, then I did that and the power did not stay on- it clicked off right after clicking on (but no cycling)

Remove the top left hand connectors on the power supply - leave the others plugged in and report what happens.

            Removed top left plugs-
Plugged in power cord, it clicks, red light comes on followed by green light, then it clicks off- no lights. This cycles every 15 seconds or so.

I am leaning toward the power supply- any thoughts? No stand out blown caps on the board.

Hoping this helps- I jumpered the left side of the OVP and unplugged the top left connector and I now have steady power, along with the ability to turn the tv off and on as long as I have this scenario. Am I getting warm?

I hate to keep talking to myself BUT- I jumpered the OVP and removed ONLY the VS wires from the plug on the top left side of the power supply. (one Black and two white) I now get steady power and static sound (it changes pitch with channels, so it is real static I believe)

If I remove the jumper from the OVP it cycles on and off, no sound.

                  HELP! Any insight?

Ok, voltages a the PS connector are 61V for Va and 270V for Vs

The board calls for 60-61 and 180-200 respectively. What would cause the voltage to be too high on Vs?

Hello dsnyder589...I was curious to learn how you fixed your 50HP16 plasma tv. I am having the same problem as you described. Any info you can share would be most helpful and very much appreciated. Thanks, Vin
