    General Plasma Question

I've started to notice on a few plasmas, when a white color is shown there occurs a pink hue/overcast in the white section (it's scratchy looking not necessarily even). The image as a whole is not affected (except what is white) and all colors otherwise are good.

I am curious to what causes this or rather the fix. I have not had one in my possession to mess with but was wondering if anyone knew or had experience; couldn't really find anyone with same exact issue.

Would it be a voltage issue?

Sorry, I do not have a picture currently.

    Re: General Plasma Question

When the white portions have a pink hue it usually means the phosphors in the panel itself have aged to the point that they cannot produce whites accurately. This happens when a plasma panel is either past its half-life or when people jack the settings all the way up to the maximums and run it that way all the time. It ages the panel that much quicker. It is possible that a voltage adjustment could lessen the effect but you would not be able to get rid of it completely.

You would be amazed how many TVs I see that have brightness and contrast both at max and the color temperature set to cool. Not only does it make the picture look oversaturated and quite bad in my opinion but it kills the panel that much quicker.

Now if you had a pink hue cast over the entire picture then most of the time it would be the Z-sustain that was the problem. This usually makes the picture darker also.

Another possibility is poor Vs - if the Vs is dropping out on bright white scenes, you will get under-diffusion on portions of the panel.

Ok. It was just odd to me to see it on a 2011 plasma but I guess the settings have been jacked up. But if I ever get one, I'll check the voltages and settings.

I personally prefer LCD over Plasma so I suppose I won't have to worry about that problem :P

I like plasma more, but can't wait to see an OLED.

I have been playing around with a 128x96 pixel greyscale OLED. It has essentially infinite contast .
