magnavox 42mf7000 -plasma - blue screen with single vertical white line on one side

i have a magnavox 42mf7000 plasma tv that gives only a blue screen with single vertical white line on left side (opposite side of button controls). connecting to av1, av2, component, dvi, rgb & still gets blue screen. svid connected to av1 or av2 is sensed (screen shows [S] with av#). with vid/audio in av1, i can hear the audio for less than a second when i switch inputs (side panel button) to av1. after a minute or 2 the screen begins to flicker / shimmer like what you see when a pool is disturbed by some wind or such, & audio in av1 will still pop in for a moment when input is switched to av1, then nothing.

i've fixed some lcds but never did anything with a plasma. read all the posts about philips/magnavox plasmas here & grabbed service manual for philips model 7320 which were in spanish. google search results talk about many lines, not just 1, but not seeing anything helpful. so i'm hoping someone has a quick idea to check, otherwise i'll take some pics & post them. thanks for your help.

Check the caps on the mainboard near the main control ic. Also push on the ic to see if there is a bad connection. The blue screen throws me thou. Thought Philips magnavox have black screens on no input.
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

it's definitely blue, and the screen shows the input source in yellow as it changes, and menus / volume / etc also show onscreen. the oddest part is i can go thru the menu and scan for tv channels - air - and tho it can't find any it does try (not an HD tuner) - but there is no coax or screw antenna connection accessible (the punchout isn't punched out). i expect i'll find something when i take the back off.
