OK, try G-E for the "CGE" parts (they are IGBTs.)Leave a comment:

Try touching one probe on gate/source and the other on drain, this will ensure the FET is not being turned on by stray noise.Leave a comment:

Ok, maybe small lie. I can get 0.01 and 0.006 but same result both polarities and more than one direction still bad IMHO. Most are .000 though.Leave a comment:

I'm talking .000. You can take my word on it. I would not believe it myself reading it but no bull. Quite incredibly strange!Leave a comment:

It seems very unlikely to me. How are you testing them? From source to drain, is it reading zero or almost zero?Leave a comment:

Re: Panasonic th-p50v20a - 4 blinks (sos4)
I tested gnd to the output of the buffers-no shorts. Then tested the inputs at the buffers from the sc board, no shorts either.
Any tricks you know for testing the buffers? It's not an area I'm overly confident with.
If this was a samsung ysus I'd have better luck finding components I reckon.Leave a comment:

Re: Panasonic th-p50v20a - 4 blinks (sos4)
I would say it's unlikely they are all bad. You will have to remove them to test them out of circuit. Are you sure the buffers are OK, too?Leave a comment:

Just give me some time to work it out. There's 6 heatsinks with 9 parts off 7 of which were dead short .Leave a comment:

Can you show a picture of where the FETs show as shorted? I had a similar issue, but it was just one FET that was shorted, I was able to replace that and it worked.Leave a comment:

Re: Panasonic th-p50v20a - 4 blinks (sos4)
Here's another question. Has anyone used different revisions of Sc boards to what was originally installed in their Panasonics?
I see the SC board is used on 42",46" & 50" models. having a quick look at the components there are some differences like CAPs between them but the 50" at a glance look the same.Leave a comment:

Panasonic th-p50v20a - 4 blinks (sos4)
I have a 4 blink code on P50V20A full HD about 14 months old.
Interesting fault to say the least. I isolated the SC board and the blinks changed, green led lit on the SS and managed to measure VS at 204 volts under this condition for the 3 seconds the set powered up.
When the Sc is connected 4 blinks and no led lit on that board or the SS and the set turns off straight away.
So I've headed for the SC and so far there are banks of FETs and diodes dead short all over this board.
No wonder the PSU is spitting out 4 blinks with dead shorts. The VS does not even get a raise when the SC is connected.
I checked the buffers, nothing burnt and did not find any shorts.
Here's the list and I am using the TC-P50VT20 GPF13DU Chassis service manual to fault find this as I can not find my exact model.

Can any brainiacs out there help with datasheets or substitute parts? Searching is not getting me far. It's as if Panasonic use custom parts or numbers.
Very frustrating.Last edited by tw2005; 09-15-2012, 02:07 AM.Tags: None

Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

by BiruslapioBought this TV used not working, panel flashed briefly on power up and it was blinking 8 times, a quick look on SS board revealed a common fault on the 3uF 250V capacitors, C201 to C205 (C1620X in the service manual), the solder joints were all cracked, C201 and C205 pins were darkened and some sparking had occurred on them, C201 was split open and clearly overheated in its last hours, replaced that one and resoldered the others, 8 blinks fixed.
Also the previous owner broke the antenna connector by taking the TV out of the wall mount forgetting to unplug it, I desoldered the tuner... -
by jm1234Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults... -
by AlicatHello,
Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.
Model number is TH-50PZ85U
Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.
Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.
I also hear a few clicks.
I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.
Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...10-30-2024, 10:09 AM -
Hello all,
As the title states, I followed the troubleshooting guide located here: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/23...page=53#manual, which concluded the 'A' board needs to be replaced. Looking around the net and eBay, I see that there are repair services for the board (TNPH1043UE? Not sure if it is a 'UE' as the suffix grid does not appear marked). What additional troubleshooting can be performed to ensure 1) this board is the problem and 2) since there are repair services, what are they fixing on the board?) I expected 3.3V not to be available anywhere... - Loading...
