Thomson skydigibox PSU faulty. Guess the cause.

    More bloated CrapXons!

The Sky digibox in this case has difficulty tuning into certain channels such as Sky News and CNN, the signal is very weak or broken up. Or when cold it's just not there at all. I suspect this is due to low 12V, which powers LNB amplifier (13/18V.)

Replaced it with an Amstrad Sky+HD box which is full of Rubycons. (Got it from a friend for a decent price.)

About 7 years old... So CapXon have had bad caps for at least 7 years, but it has been oblivious to manufacturers.

Tested the ESR on these caps, some of the ones which are not bulged also test fairly high, around half an ohm for a 220u. I will replace them all with new high quality caps.

ZL, ZLJ and ZLH. Some of the best caps Rubycon produce.

How is that lone Ost RLS doing in there compared to the CapXons?
