Yep its a shame that company's try to trick customers rather than just making things fair and easy. Its just like the old contrast ratio con.

Pioneer were good at what they did by not advertising the contrast ratio anywhere.

The two Sony's I had were due to bad T-CON.

But but but!!! The human eye can only see up to 15 Hz in the normal vision field and 40-70 Hz in peripheral vision so why an earth does anyone need 200 Hz?

Technically 50 Hz refresh rate LCDs can be called 100 Hz, because the pixels are interleaved in a checkerboard fashion and updated like that to keep DC bias across the panel to a minimum.

It will be interesting to see what technology Samsung are using to do frame interpolation. I expect it's either an FPGA (pricey, Philips used one for the Ambilight effect on their LCDs though) or a custom ASIC. Might even be built into T-con.

100 Hz scanning for low flicker. I've got to see this, as I've never seen a good Samsung panel blur or flicker, or a good LG LCD for that matter, including the one in front of me (dumpster find 42LC46 and it has a *proper* LG Philips panel.) I'm guessing because the newer Sammys use CMO/Chungwha crap they need 100 Hz scanning. The Chungwha in the Hanspree has awful motion performance, it's actually distracting with normal content.

Is this the LG thread? https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...5&highlight=LG

The noise bars do affect the OSD, and the picture. Here's a video from the owner.

Could be a panel issue? Though it looks too regular... Didn't you have a Sony with this problem, or am I imagining things?

I'm going to pick up the TV on Friday (just checked it's a 1080p set so definitely worth picking up), but can anyone confirm or counter my diagnosis of the T-con being at fault?

Nice find. Looks like the one on eBay auctions. I'll think about picking it up, but I'm on the hunt for an LED set to repair now so I might let it pass.

I am thinking of picking up this TV. It looks like a T-con fault to me. Does anyone know the model # of the T-con used in this TV?
