It's funny, me and Sienoki were working on a Sony LCD, unfortunately edge of panel got chipped () and the picture looked EXACTLY like yours, slowly fading in lines, nothing else...

        Hi there,
My LE40A656 today start to show same vertical lines. They are most visible when there is white letters.

        T-con or LCD panel?

Raspberry Pi... nice... I'm going to use one of those for each of the smaller TVs... running XBMC.
Anyway, I'm going to say panel is a very likely possibility, however it could be tab bonds which should be repairable, with care.

              OK ... just an update.

I open TV, dissemble metal frame and check every tab bond ... no effect. The picture stay distorted when I apply pressure to bonds.

I clean and reattach all ribbons - all four from Tcon to panel and Tcon ribbon to motherboard.

I check caps - looks OK to me.

So this leave me with faulty panel? Can I exclude Tcon?

Effect is most visible when there are white objects (letters for example) on dark background. When picture is dark there is almost no effect and picture look pretty good.

              Some pictures from inside:

You cannot exclude the T-con. It could be faulty. It produces voltages VGH, VGL, AVDD. Have you tested those?

I'm afraid this is beyond my knowledge
I will try to find what VGH, VGL, AVDD and where and how to measure them.
                  Thanks for advice.

hello, I have a Samsung ua46d6000. not long ago the picture went and just the sound came on, so I ordered a t-con board (not from you sorry). after putting it in today the picture came back however I not have dark horizontal lines towards the bottom of the tv. more to the right of screen which get darker over time. I have cleaned both the cables and board where the cables plug in. do u think I got a dodgy board or is it something else?

More likely a panel failure than anything else... would not be fixable I'm afraid.

hi again thanks for your reply. so I just wanna point out a few things I did to test it. ok so on my tcon board there is the cable that goes to the main board. then there are the 2 cables that go to the panel. now as I belive each of the 2 cables provide a picture to the left and then one to the right? when I plug the left in on its own I get half a picture with no lines but as soon as I plug in the right side the lines appear on the left and right all over the screen. however when I plug in the right cable without the left one plugged in, I just a bunch off white with colour lines appear. so just wanna make sure its defs the panel? cause there were no lines prior to the first board dying

Nothing new. Some time ago it failed to turn on. I opened it there was some bad caps. I replaced all bad caps and some caps which I suspect that can be bad and TV is turning on again. But lines are here. I plan to purchase T-con and ... will see Meantime I just bought new TV

                              Hi,
sorry for my last post not in English, tried to send pm to mail123456.
Anyway,my Samsung LE40A656 has 4 horizontal bands with double ghost effect, but only in the left part of the panel when facing it.Tried to reseat the ribbon cables, but still the same double effect. Then tried to change the ribbon cables-the far left cable goes in the far right cable slot. This resulted to whole screen double effect with 4 horizontal bands. When i reversed the cables back in the original slots.nothing changes. Now the whole panel is double effected.
No bad caps as far as i can see.Applying pressure to the tab bonds do not change the picture.
Now i was thinking for a new tcon Frcm_tcon_v0.1,but i will appreciate any help prior of ordering it.

Mail123456 its nice that you have fixed your tv.I was trying to find any spare tcon just to try it and be sure it is a tcon failure.
