Panasonic Plasma TH-42PZ77U Color Issues - Story and photos included

Last week my plasma went out and displayed the terrible 10 red LED blinks. I did some research and fixed the power board. The TV came back on, but instead of going back to a great picture, the colors are now all distorted. For example - Faces are filled with greens, blues and reds (and yes this happens no matter what the source - DVD, XBOX, SAT). The sound is just fine. I'm sure it's one of the sustain boards, but I don't know which one. I also don't want to buy some as I'd rather repair them if only I knew where to start. I just really hope it's not the panel itself. I can't find info on it anywhere online.

Photos are below and I can provide more if necessary. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you so much!!

A user on this forum had a similar problem with his Panasonic plasma - the difference being that blacks were replaced with red mostly and that it would develop after around 30 minutes.

The fix was to reseat the connector between the main board (with the inputs on it) and the logic board (which controls the plasma display.) The logic board is underneath the main board.

It is almost certainly not the panel and unlikely to be the sustain boards. That being said I have seen that weird pattern when a sustain board was maladjusted (but for an LG) - but it was a simple matter of tweaking the voltages back to nominal. Only do this if the logic board doesn't seem to be the cause.

I have the same problem on my Prima PH42T8 - traced it to the logic board - pixel works chip needs reflow. I fixed power issues with the TV and it powered up to what you have now, I pressed(lightly) on the processors(with an isolated probe) and voila, perfect picture, let go and the picture reverts to that, or stays good until the TV is moved. the pressure needed was so light that I figure a reflow will fix it, as I checked the entire board for bad solder and cracks and verified all connectors and it looked good. Apply some light pressure or gently tap the IC's and watch for a flicker or the jump to normal picture.

It worked!! Barely had to touch it once I pulled the main board out. Thanks guys.

Guessing it was a loose connector? Seems a common fault. Enjoy your TV .
