Panasonic 32" LCD TV broke, model TC-32LE60

Hey, our Panasonic TV upstairs just broke. Its made in '06. Don't let that fool you, cuz we paid good money for it, and upon opening, theres all Japanese caps inside!

Just turned it on via remote, the power supply relay clicked on as normal, then BANG! Something must have blown, but there is no smell. Now the TV wont turn on, and the power light blinks two times.

So of course, within minutes I opened it up, and there are no burn marks or burned parts except for one suspicious SOT-23 transistor, which appears to have a burn on it.

    No fuses blown.
Haven't checked voltages yet, but I will do that tomorrow.

I am looking for a repair manual for the TV, please let me know if you have one!

And I will be posting pics tomorrow, its getting late right now.

    1) I would check the bridge rectifier and power mosfet for shorts.

    2) You can also test all the diodes that are mounted on the heatsinks to make sure they are not shorted as well.

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

1 - All rectifier diodes test good.

2 - no shorts, because the PS fuses are good. The standby voltage is provided by a small smps with an 8 pin DIP control chip. And the other smps uses an integrated switching device, an STR G9626. Also the NTC tests good.

Its almost like the TV tries to turn on, but there must be a short somewhere.

2 blinks is "INVERTER SOS, NO BACKLIGHT DETECTION ".
Confirm you are getting 24 volts and INV-ON to the inverter when you first try to turn it on, then, if both are good, check for something blown on the inverter.

          Ah ok,

sooooooo... I turned it on this morning, and its working!?

I think the mosfets in the inverters are in a half bridge config, but two are paralleled, so maybe one has gone, and the other is doing all the work. It probably will soon overheat.

Gonna check voltages, and the mosfets later!

Unlikely... MOSFETs mostly fail shorted. Possibly the shorted one fused from the high current flowing through it though.

Ben 7 I'm having the same problem you described on 3/6/12. Did it continue to work after giving it an overnight rest? Or did you have to replace the inverter board. We have no TV repair guy in this region!!!! I hate to throw the thing out if I can plug in a new part.

I plugged it in to test power supply voltages and when I turned it on, it came on just fine... really confused me! I never did find out what made it do this.

FYI, The TV is still working just fine to this day....

My only guess as to what happened is as follows:
Maybe a ceramic capacitor shorted out, and the stored energy from another capacitor flowed through the short, blowing the capacitor apart (therefore removing the short).
The PSU went into protection when the voltage rail dipped, and the TV displayed the blink code.
That is what I think happened. It's only a hypothesis

Maybe cracked solder joints in the inverter.

CRT Panasonic TV model TX-25T2L Service Mode (?)
                    by LittleMega
                    Hi guys,

I have opened the same Thread on AV Forum and they suggested asking here as I didn't sort the following issue:
I am trying to enter in the Service Mode of a CRT Panasonic Colour TV model TX-25T2L, serial no. LE-331011 (Alpha 2 Chassis) manufactured in UK.

I tried the most common procedures for CRT Panasonic which match with the operations available on the remote control:
set the Bass to maximum position,
set the Treble to minimum position,
press Vol – on the customer controls at the front of the TV, and at the same time press
                    ...
