Could also be a shorted LDO regulator on the processing board.

Re: LG 50" PK540 Plasma Clicking, not turning on.
Thanks for the pictures and video.
Have you got a digital multimeter?
If you turn all the lights out in the room, can you see any flickering on the screen while it attempts to turn on? It might be a brief flash, or a slightly grey screen.
I repaired an LG 42PC1D with very similar symptoms but it had an entirely different power supply. In my case it was a fault with the AC detect, and it was easy to fix.Last edited by tom66; 02-15-2012, 02:53 AM.Leave a comment:

LG 50" PK540 Plasma Clicking, not turning on.
I have acquired a broken 50" LG plasma. Looks to be some sort of Cyber Monday or Black Friday TV special from some google searching. I will post pics and a video of what it is doing: not powering on and just clicking, im getting a red light, and about 3 tries to fire up and then it seems to give up. The video should be up in 10-15 minutes. None of the CAPS look bad on a visual inspection, Ive unplugged both the Y and Z and tried to power it up but to no avail. Im new to fixing TVs. Just fixed my first one (40" Samsung LCD last night, thanks to badcaps.net!) I have some basic soldering and electronic skills but breaking things down in Dumb-dumb terms helps me learn best. Thanks for the help!

by KYBOSHGot my hands on an relatively unknown TV brand about two weeks ago.
I certainly hadn't heard of it before.
Previous owner didn't give a description of what was wrong and when I got it the back cover was already off.
I put it on the back burner until I had so spare time to look it over.
Today was that day.
I plugged it in and was surprised to see that it started up without any issues.
This is an older TV and the most modern video input that it has is DVI.
I was scrambling to find a DVI connector or adapter as I haven't fooled with that... -
by sam_sam_samThis is from my son’s gaming computer that at first had minor overheating issues when playing a very intense game with it causing the computer to crash or reboot
Then bough a new motherboard and a new computer case that a cooling system in it already installed also brought the cooling system for this video card but now the issue with it is that it randomly rebooted screen goes blank randomly and suddenly video freezing or started with video being there then blank screen and then the video comes back or it just stays blank for a while and then maybe it will come back but it... -
by bffargoLG 60PB66550 NOV 2014
PSU: EAY63168603
PCB: EAX65359531 2013.11.01 Rev:1.0
Main board: EAX65399305(1.0) 13.11.27 PU42A/PA42A/PD42A
Symptom:
While watching, just went black and started clicking relay every few seconds.
Initial diagnosis:
Removing JUST the main CPU/Input PCB from circuit stops the clicking. No problems with any other boards/drivers. (Removing all other boards and only putting Main back in is all it takes to start clicking again)
Deeper diagnosis:
Pulling pins #1/#2 (Blue/Grey) from the connector housing... -
by LGhostHello everyone! This is my first thread asking for help and I'm new here so please be nice
I'm trying to repair a Samsung TV but not having much success so I've came across this forum and it seemed kinda nice and friendly. The TV is clicking on/off (relay) and I can't seem to put my finger on the issue. The image looks fine (since I can get a glance at the "Smart TV" logo when it boots). But it's just an endless loop of on/off. If I disconnect the mainboard from the PSU it stops doing the "clicking" sound but that's about it. I've already got a used mainboard... - Loading...
