Last month my Technika 22” LCD TV died. I could not get past the red power LED. Having read several articles on this forum I decided to have a go at repairing it. Lo and behold 2 capacitors on the power board were obviously domed, so I procured their Panasonic FM equivalents and replace them (2 x 1000uF, 16V caps). Put everything back together and the TV has been working ok since.
I have since completed another repair on a Philips PHP-X19 monitor, which took much longer (see post https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...hlight=php-x19).
I did more research for this job and replaced all the electrolytic caps on the power/inverter board, and also fitted new CCFLs.
This got me thinking. Should I go back to the Technika TV and replace the remaining caps with Panasonics, even though the TV seems to be working ok? From my hastily drawn diagram the caps on the power board were:
2 x 1000uF 16V (already replaced)
1 x 470uF 16V
2 x 470uF 25V (I've got 3 Panasonics spare from my Philips fix)
1 x 220uF 35V
There is another cap near the mains transformer, but I didn't note the value. I'd need to take the back off the TV for a look. Sorry about the quality of the attached photo.
The inverters must be on another board somewhere and there are some other electrolytic caps on the other boards. I'll need to get more photos
So, what do you reckon? Leave well alone or do some preventative (possibly unnecessary??) surgery?
Cheers
