Neon 32" LCD C3298F No Video

    Hi Guys,

I've just been given a broken Neon C3298F 32" LCD tv by the grandparents, as we are moving into a new house on Friday, and don't have a TV.

I understand its a Samsung LCD panel, then everything else is cheap chinese, rebranded by one of our UK supermarkets, so i'm not expecting wonders from it, but if i can get it working, it'd save me a couple of hundred quid on a new one.

    The symptoms are:

It powers on, and the power LED flashes red 4 or 5 times, then goes solid.
The screen lights up (Still black, but it has obviously powered on), then a few seconds later you get Audio from the DVB, which the grandparents had been using before.

Thats as far as it gets - it reponds to the remote, but i can never get any video out of it, and there is no evident picture/menu on screen.

I have already replaced the inverter (Found one on Ebay for £7), and have located the T-Con card (Am learning!), and the Fuse F1 seems to be intact. I can't see any bulging or burst caps anywhere, but am open to suggestion.

The T-Con board is an 320ap03c2lv0.1

Any suggestions? Pics of components available on request!

Did you measure it with a multimeter? A good fuse should measure less than 1.0 Ohm.

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

Yes, have tested it, and although the multimeter i have here at work is very difficult to use, it does appear to be less than 1Ohm resistance.

I have attached a picture of the T-con - i will do better pictures of the other boards when i get home and dig out my camera - my phone is too difficult to focus!

Right, have been home, and got some better photos for you.

Obviously in the overview picture there are a few cables hooked back out of the way - and the T-con card is not present - have unplugged the cables to get them out of the way.

I hope someone can shed some more light onto this...

cheesy noname mainboard. kinda looks like a chinese vestel clone. (chinese copy of a turkish controller board )

Can't really help with the problem, but i found the board available here for 30 pounds

            Heh, cheers for that!

I figured the hardware isn't great (It certainly wouldn't have been my first choice either), but as its free, i cant complain too much!

Is there any steps i can take to ascertain if it is the mainboard that is the problem?

Do you get any voltage to the LCD panel?
You can usually look up the voltage the panel itself needs via its datasheet (search for the panel model).

For LCDs this size, it's usually 12V

If the panel is a "normally black" type, it would be black when there's no voltage (as opposed to "normally white", where the whole panel would be white if there's no power going to the panel (all you see is the backlight))

easiest check: disconnect the panel from the mainboard and power it up.
If it's still completely black (only backlight on), the panel voltage might be missing.. time to grab the multimeter and check the mainboard
