Samsung t5064 plasma turning off and on

My 50" samsung plasma keeps turning on and off randomly. I've researched the cause and all information suggests bad capacitors on the power board. I've taken the back off and I cannot see and popped or bulged capacitors. No leaking either. On one of the large capacitors the black plastic cap came off but it doesn't looked bulged at all. I understand that they don't have to be bulged or leaking to be bad. I will post up some photos if they will be of any help. My questions are

    1. If I choose to buy a new board, can I be reasonably assured that this will fix the on/off problem. Is there another cause aside from bad caps? Can you recommend a vendor who sells boards with good quality caps?

    2. If I choose to fix it, where do I begin? Which capacitors should I look at? How can I test them? I've had it unplugged for 24 hrs. How long does it take for the caps to discharge?

    Here's some info:

The tv model is hpt5064x/xaa. The power board is #PSPF531801A. The capacitors are capxon.

I will post some pictures in a bit. Any help you can offer is much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Todd

It is turning itself ON? That is not a typical symptom of capacitors in Samsungs to my knowledge. It is possible, but more often caps in Samsungs cause slow turn on, not turning on, shutting off, screen blacking out. How often does it turn itself on? I would unplug the connector going to the IR Sensor/Function control board, which is probably on the bottom of the front panel, could be down the side, depending on model. Then, with this cable disconnected, leave the unit plugged in to the wall for long enough to determine whether it is still turning itself on/off by itself. If it stops turning on/off, you have a bad IR/Function board. These boards have been known to cause that type of problem. They are usually quite inexpensive too.

I'm sorry, I didn't explain it clearly - Once it is on, it turns off and then goes through a clicking cycle. If I unplug it, wait, and then plug it back in, it might be 5-10-15 minutes before it starts again. It has been happening more frequently as of late.

Here are some pictures I promised. I don't know if you can tell anything by looking at them.

im not expert, but that sounds like dry joints on the power board?

Now the tv turns off and then it just cycles through a series of clicks as if it were going to turn on. Some times it clicks and the startup jingle is heard and the screen lights up. It may stay on for a minute or so and then it turns off and the cycle repeats itself.

Any ideas of where to begin would be appreciated. I would just buy a new power board but I don't want to end up with the same junk that is in the current board.

I'm sure it its bad caps. CapXon (CrapXon) are known shit capacitors. The symptoms you describe sound a lot like bad caps on the PSU board. Capacitors don't have to bulge to be bad. I would replace them with quality capacitors like United Chemicon, Nichicon, Rubycon.
Make sure the ESR and Ripple Current is the same as the original CapXons. There will be a series mark on the side of the CapXons, just Google it and view the datasheet. You will find all the info you need. Then replace them.

You should not have to replace the primary's, as they rarely fail, but in some cases, they can fail, though they usually bulge first.

How do you know which ones to replace? Are there certain ones to replace or should I just replace them all?

I would just replace the caps on the PSU for now. Replace them with UCC KY or something reliable. Replace ALL the caps on the PSU and tell us what happens. Make sure the ESR and Ripple is the same. UCC KY should be a good replacement.

Don't replace the Primary Capacitors on the PSU yet though. They should still work good.
