    Samsung "No Disk" error

I have a Samsung bd-p1500 Bluray player that says "No Disk" with both bluray and dvd's. I've tried the firmware update, the reset trick and cleaning the lens. A replacement drive mechanism would cost too much to be worth it. All the caps look good ( Although I know that doesn't always mean anything) Any ideas?

I purchased an used one and the seller said that it would not play blu-rays, but it did play dvds okay. It says "no disc" for blu-rays.

I did all the same thing as you (firmware, clean, reset) and nothing worked. I took it apart and nothing seems wrong so I am thinking it is the blue laser itself or the mechanism is out of alignment.

The laser diodes burn out after a while.
Optical drives should be considered consumables.

The Samsung one I bought used was only 14 months old according to original owner (just past warranty). The manufacture date is Oct 2008.

My Sony BDP-S350 made in Aug 2008 and still going strong. Ironically, I originally got the P1500 as a gift, but returned it in favour of the Sony.

My Sony 5 disc DVD changer was purchased in 2004 and gets heavily used for music and dvds and still works fine.

edit: And the Sony 5 disc player was refurbished item.

OK i've noticed that when I put in a disk, the drive does about 3 - one quarter turns before the "No Disk" message. So could it be the spindle motor?

Why don't you play with the pots to give the laser a little more power. Be sure to record their original position and move them in very small increments.

Or better, MEASURE first and after. The pots are somewhere around 2k and a hundred ohms can be the difference between a perfectly working unit and a blown laser - been there, done that. Lost a really nice modded DVD player to that mistake.

ASUS ROG STRIX B550-I GAMING - M.2_2 port not working correctly with SAMSUNG SSD980 1TB NVME SSD
                  by DynaxSC
                  Hi,

I have an really very weired issue with ASUS ROG STRIX B550-I GAMING.

Some NVME (PCIe) SSD's are not working correctly in the second M.2 socket. An example of it is the SAMSUNG SSD980 1TB NVME SSD.
Some other NVME (I have only smaller ones) disk do work without any problem, also SAMSUNG disks, eg an MZVPV128HDGM-0000.

The behaviour is also really very strange, i.e.:
                  • The disk shows always up in BIOS - so it is recognized, so far so good
                  • POST-ing with this disk with fresh Windows 24H2 installation (done in the M.2_1 socket) in the M.2_2 socket
                  ...
