Direc TV - Trouble with local channels only

I recently had a problem that has progressively gotten worse. I would call Direc tv to have them fix it but I will be out of town this week. They probably can fix it without needing to get into my house but... I'll address it here as well. Maybe someone else can find this info helpful in the future. Not to mention, the people here are more educated that Direc TV's helpline anyways!! FOR SURE!!!

Here are the main details and possible contributing factors:

Problem: Local channels have little to no video reception. All other (non-local) channels OK.
    Location: Baltimore, MD
Weather: Recent wind could be to blame if this is an alignment problem.

If this is an alignment problem, I wish I could do it myself and be done with it - than to call on one of their low level, just out of high school, underpaid, just fired from Wal Mart or Radio Shak, technicians.

The fact that I get the Lifetime channel instead of Sunday Night Football is a MAJOR CONCERN!!

You're really asking in the wrong forum. Most of the people here don't service satellite transmitters. DBStalk.com has the experts, wannabe experts, and just plain folks.

It's probably an alignment problem. Last I heard, DirecTV beams locals from the 119 bird. One complicating factor is the fact you have a SWM.

One final point. It's been my observation if you start by insulting someone who is coming out to help you, the quality of service received is vastly inferior.

I tried it their way with the original installation. After I finished the drywall repairs from thier mistakes, it's hard to let them in again. It took two guys all morning long. They asked me for some tools they could use. After their mishap, I had to tell them to leave and then I completed the install. They use contractors as they too are farming out work to slave labor.

You mean you didn't pull the cables yourself? The moment they told me they would have to charge me $70 for drilling holes that were already present I knew I was going to do the cabling myself. I also attached the anchor board for the dish mount. But they DO have good signal meters and can aim the dish in a few minutes. And the bright spot - after they screwed up the installation, leaving me without satellite, I complained to DirecTV until they gave me a $100 credit.

I had them install the dish on the roof of my shed instead of the house roof. Boy am I glad I did that. It made a few runs of cable harder (for them) but, saved me the roof damage. They had to run the cables underground from the house to the shed, then branch off to each room (bedroom & livingroom). Once they got the dish cables to the house the guy got pissed cause he wanted to use the existing Comcast cables that were already going room to room but since I still kept comcast internet, I told him no. Also, I think it's a different coax cable type anyways.

Advice needed-Technika 32-207 works but sticks on channel, won’t change channels ok
            by rustinjust
My tv will work for a while and change channels with the remote as it should but then it will stick on one channel only and work ok but it won't change channels. I have tried unplugging it for hours and whilst unplugged pressing the power button on the tv to reset it.

The volume button on the remote still works but it just won't change channels once it decides to stick on one channel

It has built in basic freeview tv here in the uk, I've tried doing an automatic search to reset the tv but nothing works.

I have to turn the tv off and then on again with...

Harmon Kardon AVR340 no sound on 4 channels
            by r2digital
Hello, i had this amp sitting in the closet knowing that none of the channels were working. After taking it all apart i found 4 bulging main filter caps so i went ahead and replaced those with low ESR kmet caps. However after doing this it only restored sound to Surround L, Surround R, and Center channel. The main speaker fuse on the transformer F905/F906 keeps blowing so i decided to remove all of the transistor's on those 4 channels and measure them. All transistors appear to be in good working order(turned receiver on with none of them installed and fuse still blows). Checked dual emitter resistors...

            Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Having trouble getting Flexbv to work to view openboarddata files
            by Thefixinator
Hey guys, I'm feeling like a noob trying to get flexbv to work to be able to download and view a particular board view of a mac mini 2018. Ive tried to read how to use the open board data but it's appearing to be a little confusing on how to actually look up a particular boardview. I'm using the free version to get my feet wet with the software. Ive checked to make sure under the program preferences the openboarddata.org is in the right spot which appeared to be there by default but im not able to open up and board preference to search for a specific board view. I'm probably confused on how it...
