LG 42lg50-ug Sound but no picture......

Hi to you all! Im new to the forum and read all the threads in here to see if i can find a solution for my problem but the closest thread is about a tv set with a master and a slave inveter module. Mine is a 42lg50-ug and its a single back light inverter tv set....I took a look to the back of the tv, when i turned it on i can see the back lights seem to be working fine, no obvious signs of blown caps or transistors in the power supply. Theres a ghost image and the sound is ok, So, what is the most common issue that affects this model when something like this happens? Thanks in advance for your help...

Brightness & Contrast turned all the way down; Bad T-con; bad main board.

    The service manual is here.

Thanks for the reply, actually thought about it since i checked almost every point possible with a multimeter. Thanks again, I guess that mainboard is way too expensive so it will be better to dump that TV..........

Excuse me??? What were you expecting, to fix if for $10.00 in caps? There are four sellers on eBay offering them at prices from $45 to $140. Of course, you should make sure that they are selling the correct board.

My standards may be off, but it would seem to me that even $140 for a used board would be less expensive than buying a new TV.

Lol, thanks guys, i will check any possible flaw before buying a new one, or at least dumping this one lol....... In fact it was working when it happened, but then the image went off and i can only see a ghost image of the actual tv show

I had the same problem with my LG 50 inch plasma and I fixed it by leaving it off at the wall for at least 3 hours and then turning it back on..

                Has been working perfectly since..

Just a thought.. yours may be a worse problem.
