PSU with KME capacitors, recap or not?

Hello, I have this PSU from 1994 using Chemi-con KME and Chemi-con W (custom?) capacitors and I'd like to know if it's better to recap or leave it as is. These are the capacitors used in this power supply:
    • 1x 100 uF 10V Chemi-con KME
    • 1x 120 uF 200V Chemi-con W
    • 3x 330 uF 16V Chemi-con KME
    • 3x 2200 uF 10V Chemi-con KME
    • 1x 2200 uF 16V Chemi-con KME

Initially I've considered to recap using KMG, the indicated KME replacement, but some of them are very expensive to order here. Looking for another suitable replacement I've found that Rubycon PX have almost identical rated ripple current (some times just a bit more), but ESR is not indicated. For the Chemi-con W, since it seems to be the input filter, I've considered using Rubycon BXW or some similar capacitor rated 250V (or more if it fits?)

Since this circuit uses GP caps, does that mean that it's not very picky about ESR? if so, are the Rubycon PX or another GP caps with the same or a bit higher ripple current suitable?

non-water based Chemi-Cons like these will probably last until the seals finally dry-out and shrink (which could be a long time I've got equipment from the 1970s with quality Japanese caps that are still good). Granted they are 24 years old and if replacing them certainly won't hurt anything (as long as you don't accidently damage something in the process), but it may not provide much benefit either. Unless you're experiencing issues or the equipment is in a critical application I probably wouldn't bother.

Thanks, nice to know that KME are good. This PSU gets a bit hot since it's in a plastic case with not much ventilating holes, anyway I think I'll leave it with these capacitors meanwhile it works fine. The machine is mostly turned off and it's turned on for 1-2 hours from time to time.

Anyway, are my proposed replacement adequate? any other suggestion?

Yes, Rubycon PX is more or less directly equivalent to Chemicon KME/KMG, along with Nichicon VZ. I forgot what the Panasonic equivalent GP caps were. I think NHG?

Anyways, I agree with dmill89 - no need to replace these caps if there's no issue. I have amplifiers from the late 70's to the early 90's - all with original caps and still going strong.

Thanks momaka. I'll leave them meanwhile the unit works fine, anyway it's nice to know what would be a suitable replacement.

I think so, NHG are GP 105ºC too: https://cdn.badcaps-static.com/pdfs/...bfd8d6ffc3.pdf

Is what I have compatible with this Delta DPS-250AB power supply?
            by Justin_D33
Hello all. This is my Delta DPS-250AB PSU. It does not work anymore, and I'm assuming the cause is dried-out secondary capacitors. Specifically, those dreaded CapXons. I have some recap stock I salvaged from a dead ECS 945GCT-M3:
1, United Chemicon KZG 560 µF 6.3V, there's one of these
2, Sanyo WG 2200 µF 10V, there's 3 of these that came from the VRM area
3, more Sanyo WGs, these came from the PCIe area. There's 3 in total, they are 6.3V ones. I forgot the exact capacitance, and I don't want to dig them out right now.

Delta DPS-300AB-24b 300 Watt ATX PSU recapping
            by momaka
Figured I’d separate the recapping details of this PSU in a different thread so that the information can be easier to find. To be more specific, this thread is about recapping of the Delta DPS-300AB-24b, shown here. All details about the build quality of that PSU are posted there.

Here is the PSU, just to see what we are dealing with:

And here is a cap diagram:

Let’s break it down what goes where…

            Lite-ON PS-6311-2d2 [Dell L305N-00] – recapping info and mods
            by momaka
It's the power supply from this post – a Dell L305-00 305 Watt PSU (Lite-ON model PS-6311-2d2). Although only one capacitor appeared bulged on this PSU, I found many more that were bad.

Therefore, here goes a thread for a full recap of this PSU. The list here includes all of the electrolytic capacitors and their board designators, with the exception of the two big 200V caps on the primary side – I won't be changing these on my unit:

            Cap list…

ASUS P5A and P2B-S recapping. Searching old datasheets.
            by P4C800
            Hi,

I'd like to recap some of my old mainboards (they are from 1998) before switching them on again for the first time after many years in storage. All caps still look good from the outside.
            There are three mainboards:
            - ASUS P5A rev 1.04
            - ASUS P2B-S rev 1.03 "Rubycon"
            - ASUS P2B-S rev 1.03 "Chemi-Con"

If you are interested in their specs, The Retro Web has pages for the P5A and the P2B-S.

They all have many 1000uF 6.3V 105°C capacitors. But there are some differences I cannot figure out.

After updating motherboard capacitors, what to do next (Asrock K7VT2, SOLTEK SL-75FRN2L)
            by dragon3x
Hi, I have some 32 bits computer motherboards that need repair, as they fail to
            power on.

            Here are some examples :

(N.B. "capacitors" indicated here are electrolytic capacitors located in the onboard
            switching supply area).
            (N.B. #2 : I could not find a 3300 microF aluminum-polymer with a higher voltage
            than 6.3 V.)

1 - Motherboard #1 : this is an Asrock K7VT2 (socket A) that still works well. To put it on test
            I replaced capacitors with aluminum-polymer.
