Cooler Master G750M High PG power good signal

This cooler master G750M came shorted on primary side.

Replaced fuse, bridge rectifier, safety diodes and single mosfet.

After that PSU was powering every one in ten times when i pressed switch, but had high PG on tester, over 999.

Replaced controller ST9S429-PG14. After replacement it powers on when you connect cable for the first time, but high PG remains. It wont power on until you disconnect 220V, let it drain, then connect again - same thing - powers on first time, high PG, wont power on subsequent switch triggering.

Checked surrounding smd components around ST9S429-PG14, all seem fine with DMM.

Any advice where to look what might be?

Do you have datasheet for the controller IC?

Here it says that it is the same as S3515:

It looks like that chip does not control the PG Signal, it only provides voltage\current monitoring, and takes PG as input but there is no output.

Have you checked the power-up control optoisolator?

Please upload photos of the board, both sides.

Replaced all three optos from same model psu that is working, nothing changed.

What does the voltage on the LED side of the power-up opto do in response to sending PS_ON signal to the PSU?

What is the actual voltage on the PG output? 999 on a tester means nothing to me.
What is the voltage on your PS_ON line?

            Is the 5vSB working properly?

Sorry for late reply, was on trip so could not check unit sooner.

Did some comparison with working unit and trouble shooting along with your input.

On optos, along with primary fets, voltage is lower in stand by compared to working unit, bad unit around 114V, good one 155V. Also in stand by on my 5V line i get only 1.4V - that is also voltage of PS_ON line.

Took measurement on diode right after 5V transformer, reads only 1.4V.

Double-checked most of SMD components, swapped whole primary heat sink and components - issue remained.

I suppose CM6800TX is not working, PWM controler -

Many problems with this thing, I get the feeling like it's seen a big voltage spike on mains or something...

Anyway, I'd try to get the 5vSB working first. With all the other primary side funny business, you might suspect the controller and opto first. Otherwise, could be you have a shorted part somewhere, try disconnecting everything from the 5vSB output, if no good, swap diode, if no good, check opto and feedback reference (TL431) they probably have.

Cooler Master ATC-S + Some other CoolerMaster Case - 2-fer in 1 Thread
                  by Topcat
This is a Coolermaster case double-header.... The reason this one didn't get added to my 'misc build' thread is becasue the Cooler Master ATC-S aluminum case....That case is a class-act way above & beyond anything in that thread! However, we have to get through a mediocre build to get to the treasure!

...but here's the two Cooler Master cases in question; both of which were drop-offs for recycling.... The one on the left, I'm not really sure what model it is. It's nothing overly special, but it is well-made. The one on the right is an ATC-S solid aluminum, best I can determine...

Intel DX58SO high side VRM MOSFET keeps failing
                  by dougg3
                  Hi there,

I have an Intel DX58SO motherboard that failed last year. One of the high side VRM MOSFETs failed shorted, and it killed my i7 980 CPU. This motherboard has a 6-phase VRM. The parts used on this motherboard's VRM are:
                  • 6 x High side MOSFET: NTMFS4841NH
                  • 6 x Low side MOSFET: NTMFS4834N
                  • 6 x Driver: ADP3121JCPZ

It was easy to figure out where the short was, because the bad MOSFET's gate was shorted to the drain/source too. Once I removed it, all the shorts were gone on the motherboard, and I confirmed on the removed MOSFET itself that the gate/drain/source...

ATX PSU Cooler Master RS-700-pcaa-e3 shutting off after 5 seconds
                  by dariolana
Got this from my kid with a fault on primary side. Main power supply here is AC 220V. All caps were Ok, testing with 2 series lamp of 70W each, got a bright lamp . Checked main heatsink one by one with my component tester and found one 3 leg buddy MDP18N50 that passed away. Got same replacement after a week, tested, short was gone, now I got 310V on primary.

Happy as a dog, added one case fan for some load and the fan of the PSU. Tested purple wire, got 5.1V, great!. Shorted green and black, fan spins and after about 5 seconds shuts down. I was able to measure doing several iterations...

                  by stomanata
                  Happy new year.
                  This PSU use WT7527V supervisor.
                  On purple cable i have 5V, but on #4 of WT7527V i have 0.21V.
If i try to start PSU with short between green and black it star for a second and stop.
For what other to check? I now that is needed more info but i don`t know what else to share

Lenovo y520-15ikbm most of the time doesn't turn on
                  by melvinvdb
                  Hello,

I've repaired a few laptops in my life but this time my own laptop died😂.
Funny enough this one is a bit tough on me.
It doesn't turn on (most of the time).
                  Model: Lenovo y520-15ikbm (NM-391).

The only way to make it turn on is:
                  1) unplug battery + charger + rtc (seems irrelevant)
                  2) wait a minute
                  3) plug battery/charger in
                  4) on charger plugin, laptop turns on by itself. On battery plugin you have to press power button. Sometimes nothing happens and you have to try again.
                  5) when it turns on it also displays POST...
