Smart UPS 420/1000 should I add a fan?

Hello, It seems on these older models the fan is not included.
IN the 420 model I could fit 80x80, in the 1000 92x92 fans on the front of the UPS.

Then I can easily cut a hole in the metal for the fan to suck air and make vents in the bottom of the plastic that should not be seen That means longer battery life. But on the other hand if I get loads of dust like PC CPU maybe it is a bad thing?

i often add one when i do external battery mods.usuallly a led fan on the side.i set it up to only run when it is in inverter mode.the fan lit and running tells me its on battery if i disable the annoying beeper.
