Re: Faulty MPF7409 PSU from Hitachi pd5200 plasma.
No this is def the PSU board, it's not a whining or buzzing noise more a fast clicking that speeds up when load it put through the PSU. (turning brightness to full).
If a grip the inductor it dampens the noise, I could be mistaking a whining noise for a clicking noise but to be honest its much more clicky then whinny.

Re: Faulty MPF7409 PSU from Hitachi pd5200 plasma.
Just use super glue - the coils are normally glued at the factory but it dries out and becomes brittle leading to a whining inductor. No need to remove the tape, just pour it through it. Though I'd expect the whining to be from the sustain boards, not the PSU.Leave a comment:

Really wow that would be handy, will give it a go. Thanks. don't suppose you can give some more info on this.
Are the inductors pretty solid, is it all right to remove the protective tape and get inside it.Last edited by littlejon; 08-10-2012, 02:57 AM.Leave a comment:

Use some varnish on the inductor to glue the coils together - common fault...Leave a comment:

Faulty MPF7409 PSU from Hitachi pd5200 plasma.
Hi, thought I'd post my problem in here on the off chance someone can help. I been trying figure out why my TV makes a clicking noise under load (when brightness and colour etc are turned up) it doesn't do this when all setting are low.
I've figure out the clicking is (I think) coming from inductor I think that's what it's called, biggish component 4cmx4cm with coils rapped around something.
I've got some answers on this, one chap reckons I should replace 2 caps and resolder some connections, there's the thread if any ones interested:http://www.tv.quuq.org/forum/index.php?topic=6669.0
Any thoughts on this before I try to fix it.
Thanks Jon.Tags: None

by KYBOSHPicked up a bahemoth plasma TV not too long ago and just now getting around to looking at it.
No picture but you hear the TV static (white noise) playing loud and clear.
The back was already taken off (and no screws were provided) as the previous owner had already taken a look.
But it seems they didn't get too far and just left it.
When I first took a look I was amazed at how pristine the inside looked.
Its as if the TV had been in a time capsule.
Caps looked like they were just pulled off the self.

Symptom:
While watching, just went black and started clicking relay every few seconds.
Initial diagnosis:
Removing JUST the main CPU/Input PCB from circuit stops the clicking. No problems with any other boards/drivers. (Removing all other boards and only putting Main back in is all it takes to start clicking again)

by AkuankaHi everyone,
I'm troubleshooting a power supply issue with a Sony SLV-E780 VCR. The device clicks repeatedly but doesn't power up completely. I've already replaced five capacitors, but the problem persists.
Here's a video link https://photos.app.goo.gl/3Xki6yvCLn67gLX78 showcasing the sound. Based on your experience, could this be due to a transformer, diode, or another component? Any guidance on what to test or replace next would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help! -
by YanlebDo you know where I can find a firmware upgrade for the Hitachi 42HDT79 plasma TV? My set currently has firmware V0112.0001.
Their service website seems to be on SalesForce now, which requires a login.
Thanks.11-05-2021, 11:55 PM -

Symptoms:
The TV turned itself off, and I haven't been able to turn it back on. The standby voltage was unstable and lower than it should be.
A weak clicking sound was coming from the transformer.
Video with clicking sound:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAduhjNtqCA
Progress:
After the transformer, I measured four Schottky diodes. DM862C and DM864C diodes readings were 003 in both directions. After detaching them from the circuit and measuring them, DM864C was the shorted one. These Schottky diodes are SB550.I... - Loading...
