Powerbank weird look

Hi guys.
I was not using Maxlife 20 000mAh power bank since I purchased it, probably morea year ago.
Today I noticed this (pic below).
What could it be?

How thick is this battery pack because if it thin it might pouch battery cells and they are notorious for expanding to double there size when they do this the battery cell or cells are bad

usually pouch/cells are much larger than that and are not heat induced - they just bloat. This looks more like a heat spot... which usually is caused by something like an overheated transistor.

Does it still work?

However have to open it and look...

Was never using it.
I was keeping it in a bedroom in a safe ambient temp.
But I know it was not like this when purchased.
Yeah, it works normally.
