Although I probably can resolve this just by replacing the input MOSFETS, I wouldn't mind getting hold of the schematic and boardview for this laptop; anyone have either?
Managed to finally find the culprit. A single 0805 ceramic right next to the SATA connector. The trouble is I have no idea of its value. I know it'll be a 25V rated, as there's 19V on the pad, so I'm guessing it's either a 1uF or 0.1uF decoupler of some sort.
Bad cap is resting on top of the MOSFET to the left of the bare pads between the melted SATA connector and the "R56" inductor.
