    Probook 4510 - Schematics+Charging Pins

    Hi All,

Got a probook 4510 that keeps killing batteries every few weeks, such that the battery looks good in all respects but wont discharge.

Firstly I think i need the schematics.

Secondly does anyone know what the correct voltages are for the battery charging pins on the motherboard? There is 6 pins. I get 3.3 volts on all but the left pin (GND) and right pin (1.98v).

Am happy 3.3v is ok, not sure if the 1.98v is correct?

    Cheers

Battery is 10.8v, so 3.3v is way low. Page 6 shows the connector I think you're talking about (right-upper, CN1014), and Pin 1 looks to be charge/output, Pin 6 is Ground, and the ones in between look like battery "sense" for the charging circuit.

Is there a battery "test" in the BIOS? May reset the battery charging circuit. **
How's the adapter output? What is its voltage when the unit is running and charging? If it's falling off/low, I'd say that's the problem.

[ See Page 5, upper left, just below and left of DC JACK, it says BATCAL#. Seems to indicate "Battery Calibration" to me. I've seen that in a few laptops before. ]
