Hello!

Bought from a liquadation a broken X240.
Repaired it,and it turns out it's locked in the SVP (Supervisor Password)

I have searched around the forum, found different solutions but everything was scattered around and old, so don't know which is the best way to attack / unlock it ?

Should i first post a BIOS Dump ,and we proceed from there?

For newer machines (2012-2018, 4th to 8th gen Intel), the password itself is stored in the EC. BIOS must be modified and re-flashed to insert a special driver that will allow bypassing the BIOS password.

For some reason the autopatcher doesn't create me the file that i need.
I have saved the dump .bin from my X240.

I open a CMD command line with administrative privilege, inside the folder like etc. (C:/BIOSPatcher) inside there are the files i make the cd: C:/BIOSPatcher.
Then i press the "autopatch test.bin" nothing happens, try "autopatch test.ext" (with the dump renamed , nothing happens).

What am i doing wrong?

nevermind fixed it, it needed the python to be installed.
All good ,and fixed my X240.

I used the pretty old straight forward method and it worked for me: Remove the external and disconnect the internal battery, remove the cmos battery cable. Short the two pins of the cmos battery connector on the mainboard while pressing the power button. Bios was cleared.

I have an old office X240 laptop with supervisor lock.
I looked thru the forums, read thru tons of pages and tried following the help posted here.
Downloaded Python 3 and installed it.
Downloaded Lenovo auto-patcher.
But where do i get the bios.bin file?
I have the latest bios file GIET99WW from Lenovo website which i can update but it doesnt do away with the SVP.

So how can i get the bios bin file needed to run auto-patcher?

The *.bin file is your bios content, you must use a programmer to read it.
