    ASUS GL503VM-BI7N13 Bios password lock

    Hello All,

I have the aforementioned laptop that I just purchased on ebay that was listed as having a BIOS password. Sure enough, on boot it requests a password. Here's the troubleshooting steps I've tried.

    1. just entering a blank password as I've seen where if it's an admin password instead of a user password, I can enter the BIOS as user and still enter Windows. I still receive Invalid Password, I'm assuming this means it's actually a user password or both user and admin password.

    2. I've removed both the main battery and CMOS battery, disconnected from power and held the power button down for about 1 minute. Hooking up only the power adapter, I turn the laptop back on, it goes through 2 reboots once it reaches the ASUS ROG logo, then on the 3rd boot, requests a password again.

    3. I tried pressing Alt+R since I read on some of these, it will generate a date code that can be decoded, this did not work and just entered an "r" in the password entry.

I'm assuming at this point that the passwords are stored separately in an EEPROM chip or something. I don't have any tools at the moment for doing any kind of flashes or anything, but depending on the difficulty and cost, I wouldn't mind purchasing one to attempt a flash. I investigated simply replacing the main board, but those cost around 600$ from what I've seen and that would defeat the purpose since it would bring the cost of the laptop back to it's normal asking price (I paid 300$ for it).

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for me to try to get this reset, other than return it to the seller lol?

    Small Update.

I've been doing some more research on the topic and I believe I've found my BIOS chip near the WIFI card. It's labeled mxic mx25l6473f.

I've been reading that flashing can be possible with a CH341A programmer. This is pretty new territory for me so I'm not sure what I'm proposing is possible for this situation or if it would even work.

Try to make a backup of the bios using Flash programming tool.

Use this at the command line

      FPTW64.exe -D bios.bin

If it makes a backup without any errors post it here and someone will have a look at it

I'm assuming I'd need to obtain this CH341A programming tool since right now I don't really have any access to the laptop's bios? I think I get the gist of how the programmer works since I used a flasher to downgrade a PS3 a few years back and the concept seems similar.

Try FPT first. It has an AMI bios,it might be possible to decode the password. If you can`t make a backup with FPT then yes you`ll need a programmer. The CH341A should do the job.If you buy the black PCB version its best to modify it before use, some of them have 5V on the data lines and need a wire soldering to make it 3.3V. The supplied software is shit, use NeoProgrammer,Colibri or ASProgrammer instead, theyre all posted here on the forum.

Hmmm I guess I'm confused as to how I'd use it since I can't boot into windows or seemingly anything for that matter?

My apologies, my wording may have been confusing on my original post. When I mentioned where I've noticied people have been able to enter a blank password to get into Windows, that doesn't work for me.

Its ok, just buy the programmer and post the backup here in a zip or rar.

Sounds like a plan. Thanks for that info. I'd hate to go into this immediately potentially frying my BIOS chip.

Hi all, I've spent the past week digging through the forums and guides to try correct my foolish mistake of changing hidden settings while tinkering around, and to be honest my heads overloaded so I'm hoping you'll be able to help.

I used a tool called 'Smokeless-UMAF' to access usually hidden settings in the bios. I tweaked one or two 'safe' things but made the mistake of tweaking a lot of settings under 'USB/Thunderbolt Configurations' when I didn't know what they did. For...

Hello everyone, I am looking for help to make sure I am on the right track to remove lost BIOS Admin password on an HP EliteDesk G6 800 SFF. I recently purchased this on ebay and the seller is willing to accept a return but I have already installed my new HDs, NVME, and setup proxmox so I would like to keep it.

                      Hello,

I'm using TONGFANG "GM7TG7P" model laptop for over 3 years and i'm entering the same bios administrator password everyday. My laptop has Aptio BIOS (American Megatrends, AMI).

But today it's not accepting my password. I'm %100 sure i'm entering the correct password.

I'm trying to reset my bios without success.

                      I tried :

-I removed the BIOS battery and main battery. Waited for a long time but it didn't work. They already stated in the user manual that the password will not be reset even if the batteries...

Hi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
                      Some issues
                      A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized

                      Things I tried
