    Re: Panasonic CF-51 BIOS Password

    @gius0161
Seems to me that this Panasonic Toughbook CF-51 (mk2) is an old model, that still haves a parallel port, so one solution is to build the "Password Skipping Plug". Unfortunately this only seem to work just for the USER password.

In old models the password used to be stored in EEPROM, did check your files. My suggestion is to look for an eeprom near the EC/KBC (check on both sides).

Did some Google searches and found a link to AllService forum and to laptops.shoutwiki.com, you may be able to follow procedure posted at AllService to reset the password by updating the EC/KBC and BIOS.
When "Enter password" is displayed, use "Password Skipping Plug" in order to skip the user password.

    1) Connect the parallel plug to the parallel port.
    2) Connect the PS/2 mouse plug to the mouse port.
    3) Power on the computer.

The wiring of the parallel plug is described below.
Connect pins 2-5-6-8-11-13-15-18-19-20-21-22-23 to Shield GND (PS/2 mouse plug pin 3.)
Connect pins 3-4-7-9-10-12 to VC5 (PS/2 mouse plug pin 4) with 4.7KW each.

Hi, I've got an Panasonic CF-52 Mk1 Laptop and tried to get it to work again.
But I just can't get around this Bios Password. (Supervisor and User Password)

Sadly I don't have any numbers except the ones on the motherboard.
I dumped the bios chip, it's an SST25VF080B chip. With a sticker saying DL3UA1656EAA and on the PCB it says DFUP1656ZB(A)
I dumped the bios with a CH341A dumper. (I'm open to hear If I did anything wrong while dumping)
On trying to boot before the password prompt comes it shows some infos about the bios for a short second. The BIOS Version is 1.54-L25 and its a Phoenix TrustedCore(tm) NB

Next to the RAM i found these numbers on 2 stickers:
          CF52MK1L181 | 07211
          CF52MK1L10G08287

Is anyone able to remove the password or decrypt it?
I will include the bios dump.

          Wish you all the best
          And a wonderful day :>

For anyone who might have the same problem.
I managed to remove the password.

It is the model CF52CCABVAG, (mk1L)

          What I did was:
          1. Disassemble the Notebook

          2. Disconnect the CMOS Battery (this wasn't enough to delete my password yet though)

          3. Now the funny part, when you short the CMOS Battery Pins at the right time while trying to boot the notebook, you can somehow make it falsely read the checksum from the chip.

The Bios will than revert to standard values and saves them.
You now have a unlocked Bios

I hope someday this helps someone :>
Have a wonderful day ya all :>
