but I don't know what is difference but 7390 that I uploaded is work for my purpose. your uploaded bios is good but doesn't solve my problem.
i wanna know that could we change laptop model in bios?

how can you expect to recognize it as 7490 when you are using a serial for 7480? Think, is for free!

I believe my BIOS is kind of corrupt, 1 out of 20 tries it boots, after changing RAM stick, RAM slot and disconnecting the battery for a while. The other 19 times, 2 amber lights and 5 white ones. BIOS battery is 3.2V.
My BIOS does NOT have password.

Can anyone check if it is indeed corrupt?

Uploaded it but again seems bios was not the issue... I am still working on the laptop though as it is showing some signs of life...
Hoaca - thank you for your help, I have now eliminated the bios from my list of potential issues...

I have 2 dell 7490 laptops that are not starting - when I press the power button the keyboard lights up but no sound, no display, etc. History unknown - i am cleaning up a closet and have these two identical laptops with same MB revisions.
I have tried the obvious - used known working memory, used ext display and keyboard, unplugged battery and CMOS battery, etc. to no effect. I am now trying to rule out the bios... My dump is attached - is there a way to tell whether the file is corrupt? Or alternatively, can someone modify a known unlocked bios from this thread that i can try on my machine?
