My bad - I literally have the guides and methods thread open and did not notice that my suffix was one of the special cases described... until you pointed it out. I guess I should be checking things with fresh eyes in the morning rather than posting at midnight
Thanks

Good evening everyone. Cleaning up a closet with old laptops and managed to get one Dell 7480 running (with some parts from a dead 7490).
It has a locked bios... I tried bios-pw.org with no luck (enter and Ctrl+enter) - can you please help me with an unlock code? ST below:

Uploaded it but again seems bios was not the issue... I am still working on the laptop though as it is showing some signs of life...
Hoaca - thank you for your help, I have now eliminated the bios from my list of potential issues...
Thanks...

ok, flashed it but sadly it did not help - it looks like the MB is bad on this one... I have higher hopes for the 2nd one.

Can you also look at the second Bios when you have a moment? Below is the info on the second laptop and the dump.

Hello everyone,
I have 2 dell 7490 laptops that are not starting - when I press the power button the keyboard lights up but no sound, no display, etc. History unknown - i am cleaning up a closet and have these two identical laptops with same MB revisions.
I have tried the obvious - used known working memory, used ext display and keyboard, unplugged battery and CMOS battery, etc. to no effect. I am now trying to rule out the bios... My dump is attached - is there a way to tell whether the file is corrupt? Or alternatively, can someone modify a known unlocked bios from this thread that...

Re: LG 50PX950 Clicks, Turns off instantly
Hi folks,
sorry for the late update, i have been real busy the past two weeks... I finally found time to replace the board about a week ago and the TV fired right up. it has worked fine for about a week now, without any issues. I purchased a board for the 50px950 from Marcos electronics.
I want to thank everyone for the great help, and especially tom66 and capkid!
thanks,

Re: LG 50PX950 Clicks, Turns off instantly
it looks like both sellers do not do refunds, so i guess i will take the plunge and order one of the boards and see how it plays out. I will report back once i get it...
thanks for all the help!

Re: LG 50PX950 Clicks, Turns off instantly
got it. What about the other notations/versions on the board. The one online says VER-3.02.00.11
MIC-3.08.0-OK
while mine is
VER-3.01.05.11
MIC-3.07.0-OK
Is that something to disregard as well?
thanks,

Re: LG 50PX950 Clicks, Turns off instantly
I saw those, but the picture on ebay shows a sticker that clearly says 60px950 and while pic on the other site is small it seems to me it is also 60px. Is there a way to find out whether these boards will work on 50px950? the EAX numbers seem to match...
Also, is there a way to test the small board or is that unnecessary given the symptoms and results of tests so far?
And lastly, here is one board that I found: http://marcoselectronics.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=6511&cPath=3...Last edited by hehehh; 08-17-2013, 11:12 AM.
