Re: I need bios.bin for Dell Latitude 5280

Make a bios backup and verify it, post it here with your service tag. You can try this bios at post #16 https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...highlight=5480
The Latitude 5280/5288/5480/5488/5580 and Precision 3520 use the same 2 bios, vPro and non vPro .

Back to this one n i"m so confused !
          Latitude 5480
The lap come with this issue : the customer say that during the bios update his lap is off ..try to power on ..light in power button but no fan no run...when i try to close the button don't reponde and alwys with light.

So i try to flash the bios with one from site and clean it but nothing happen...try the SMDflea flash nothing too..

My confusion is about the ME region version..not the same with the one from site and with the smdflea ...how to proceed !!

Re: I need bios.bin for Dell Latitude 5280

The service tag doesn`t match the one in the bios backup. If you go to the dell site and enter the tag you can look at the system config, listed under

"look at the Product Details: View system configuration"

631-ABEG : Intel Vpro Technology Enable

                379-BCTN : 6th Generation Intel Core i5-6440HQ (Quad Core 2.6GHz, 6MB cache)

Dells can have different configurations, you can choose the CPU. This one has an i5-6440HQ ,and Vpro ,so the ME firmware will be Corporate H .Some of the other dumps on badcaps have Consumer firmware LP low power for the U based CPU`s . The bios you posted does have Corp H ,so cleaning the ME region might be enough. One of the problems when a bios has been messed with is you don`t know if someone has already tried to clean the ME themselves. Its best to find another 5480 bios with corp H FW and compare the 2 with FIT, often you`ll find that theres a difference, with boot guard missing, the public key hash or something else. When you open a bios dump with FIT it will retain the settings set by dell ,other "easy" 3rd party software won`t.

Thank you SMDFlea , but same behaviour = light on power button when i press it , no fan no indication that there's a power on motherboard, when i try to turn off no respond and the light on power button still present .

I try with his battery not a charger or PSU.

notice thet the bios chip is not the same as mention on schematics.

i don't know if this message can disturb or not .

The bios was merged with the latest dell update and ME firmware extracted from the dell bios update. It doesn`t matter that the ME firmware is newer, its not a problem, its the one that dell provides with the update.

What part number is the bios chip ?

                        .
