if you are just looking for it to remove SVP just give up . password is not stored inside SPI rom.

That is another issue but currently the system is complete dead only power led blink three time then nothing and another technician write the bios with wrong file.
i search on google and i found a BIN file for same model but that is 16MB and the eprom is 8MB as i attached below.

@dycc i write your provided file 8MB the result is now power on^off OK, keyboard lights OK
Function keys touch panel ok but the problem is no display.
i also download another dumps from a Russian forum on that is different symptoms power on that dumps power on ok but shut down after two mints and no display.
i am confused that this board is 8MB or 16MB bios the board complete ID is Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon LMQ-1 MB 12298-2 48.4LY07.021 .

Can somebody tell me where the BIOS chip is on this!!!
I can see all the IC numbers and the BIOS battery but not the chip itself. Anybody?

It's shameful that even the new generations of the X1 have the same fault.

I found the BIOS chip (mxic 25l6475e) and took it off the board, which was very difficult. The solder would just not melt. So I soldered the points with a soldering iron to help try loosen up the solder. It worked but it was touch and go there for a while.

Read in the old BIOS successfully without any problems, but having problems writing back to the chip with the replacement BIOS. It seems to finish fully but pops up with an error saying "Programming Stopped". gonna try on another workstation in case there are USB issues. Fingers crossed.

The password is stored in the KBC chip ,MEC .
