    Old BIOS request(s) T550 and/or T440

    Hi there!

The following request might well shatter the rules, however I ask you to read through to understand.

I am looking for BIOS updates and or dumps from BIOSes that haven't been updated since December 2016 or have been saved before January, 2017,
targeting ThinkPad T550 and/or T440. These are supposed to be TXT and/or Boot Guard enabled which is exactly what I'm looking for.
Since I do not (yet) own a ThinkPad I cannot share a BIOS dump nor do I know a serial number.

    Why do I need this?
I am very interested to see a special kind of an Intel Authenticated Code Module (ACM) that is designed to run before the reset vector at 0xfffffff0.
This can be either a BIOS ACM or a Startup / Boot Guard ACM from prior January, 2017. Reason for that is, I don't want to see Converged TXT/Boot Guard technology.
Furthermore the ACM must be designed for anything lower than 6th generation (Skylake) Core i7 since the Intel ME has changed started with Skylake (ME11).
(Note that the Intel ME is an important part to running something before the x86 reset vector.)

I know I can download UEFI Capsule updates from Lenovo, but they're all too recent, and the links
which I've been checking out have either not been saved or are too recent in Wayback machine.

A quick skim of winraid forum didn't show up anything of interest either.

TL;DR: I don't have an issue and I am just looking for T440/T550 BIOSes older than January, 2017, to gain more low level insight.

    Kind regards,
    Microwave

P.S. The files "gjuj40us.exe" or "g2uj33us.exe" would be just as fine as long as they're older than January, 2017. I can easily extract the Capsule myself.

This bios was extracted on 2016.12.27
I hope it's good for your research...

      Thank you very much.
It helped insofar as I just noticed that the Boot Guard ACM didn't change from 2013 to 2020 (date of my extracted capsule of T440).
So seems like I've had already saved that ACM.
It disproves my proposition that I could not just use the newest BIOS updates for extraction.
It suggests that Startup ACMs either don't need security updates or are too unflexible for updates since a lot of info might have been burnt onto the die.

What surprises me most is how execution appears to consistently take place in 32 bit mode, even before the reset vector (normally "unreal mode").

      TL;DR:
Yes it helped and no further files are necessary.

      Kind regards,
      Microwave

        🛠️ MSI GP75 Leopard MS-17E71 – No Display, Deep BIOS/EC Troubleshooting
        by macabook
        Hello everyone,

I’m currently working on a dead MSI GP75 Leopard (MS-17E71) motherboard (i7 CPU, NVIDIA GPU) with a no display/no backlight issue initially. After extensive investigation, I’m at a critical stage involving EC firmware, BIOS/ME region interaction, and possible deep corruption. I'm seeking advanced insight from anyone with experience in EC/BIOS sync issues or PCH-level behavior. Here’s a full breakdown:
        🧩 Initial Issue
        • Board powers on (fans spin, keyboard lights up and can be adjusted, caps lock led lights), but no display or backlight
        • External display (HDMI) shows

Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 (serial number: MP2BFZEF) bios request
        by Wahaz
        Hello,

I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 Laptop (serial number: MP2BFZEF) that when I turn it on, the led on the power button lights up for 5 seconds, then goes out. There's no display and nothing happens.
So I thought it was a Bios problem.
I found 3 bios chips on the board, which I read with a bios programmer: two XMC model bios chips and a Winbond model bios chip. Each XMC model bios chip has two partitions named XM25QH128A [3.3V] and XT25F128A [3.3V]. And the Winbond model bios chip has three partitions named W25Q80BL 3.3V, W25Q80xV 3.3V and W25Q80DV 3.3V....

HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec2523nd - Dimm2 slot disabled after corrupt bios repair? Advice requested.
        by Bloodhoundje
        Hi everyone,

I have been doing hardware repair as a hobby for some years now and recently decided to learn about repairing laptops as a fun challenge.

I managed to get my hands on a "HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2523nd" notebook that only shows a white power LED and doesnt respond to anything.

After initial testing I concluded the bios seems to be corrupted since all voltages are normal and there are no shorts. HP has a feature for a bios restore from USB with winkey+B for this model. This did not work.

I have desoldered the bios chip (GigaDevice...
