Re: toshiba tecra a8 bios pasword
Try to recover bios from pendrive or cd, same way if the bios is dead, if you are lucky it will erase the password too, if not you have to replace keyboard controller and the bios ic, or if there is an extra ic for the password, i remember some years back this toshiba i replaced 3 ic, to remove the password if you dont do it this way the screen will stay blank.Comment

Re: toshiba tecra a8 bios pasword
I cant find the website anymore, the reason is that there is an encrypted hash of the keyboard controller and the bios ic, each of them contains half of the number, the two together makes the whole hash. The number is generated everytime the bios is flashed, this is why changing the bios ic alone does not work because the number will be different. You have to take off the ic`s from another board all together. Its a security feature, this tecra laptops are for business users as i remember, its similar to the ibm thinkpad. I already tried replacing only the bios ic and also flashing it but the screen stayed blank. If you google it maybe you can find the website where they describe it in detail.Comment

Hope that this post is at the right place of the forum.
I am seeking help and technical advice to remove bios admin password from HP ProBook 4520s.
The laptop is operating normally and, I am not facing any major issue with it except; the bios admin password that I found about by coincidence only few weeks back.
As the laptop is operating normally, I am reluctant to take it to a workshop to de-solder the bios chip in order to read it by an external programmer, as I am not an expert in doing such a thing.

Password removal option for those who do not have a method through HPUnlocker.
This option saves all information in the BIOS (serial number, Windows key, etc.) and also excludes the appearance of BIOS notifications at startup (hp endpoint security controller problem).
