    Acer Aspire one. D255E-13DQkk

    Aspire One says it all...!

Time to fit a new battery so will have to order one, this one is as slow as it can possibly get, I know to speed things up I need to turn things off at 'start up' which I've never done yet... I doubt it'll make as big difference anyway.

Is it worth fitting a SSD drive instead of the 5400 RPM 'spinner', wondering if the change would be any beneficial and worth it?

The o/s is Windows 7 starter, I did thnk of trashing the o/s for Linux, I reckon the drivers will be pretty useless for Win 10 or 11, has anyone got any thoughts on this?

    Thanks Dave.

if it's the Atom cpu based machine then 100% install Linux,
one advantage of fitting an ssd is you double the value of the machine!

Oooops, sorry moderators, I posted in the wrong section, no wonder I couldn't find mi' post.

Thanks stj, to be honest I'll have to check the CPU type, it only gets used as a scratch pad kinda thing, never for anything serious, from memory I think it may well be a atom cpu.

Just that I thought someone may have dabbled with one of these slow-coaches..... geesh, my very first 'puter' build was XP and that was way, way faster booting and still is.

Again, sorry for posting in wrong section. Dave
